Hi DB2,
Thanks for your reply! The drawbar from the scoop came away (sheared off) and ran up the back of the dozer, levering the ball through the collar. If it was a straight pull, I would have thought that would have done the trick.. Not sure I can exert more force on it than that - the inner...
Hi All,
We have a kukoda scoop (22D). I have managed to damage / split the cap that retains the ball, that is mounted on the front axle / dolly - not great timing, leading into Christmas! :|
I am getting a new retaining cap machined, but I'm having trouble seeing how the shank on the ball is...
As a last resort, have you gentlemen ever come across smaller winches fitted to the D8s, strictly for logging? Alternatively, could I simply use 7/8 or 3/4 on the winch drum of a D89C? Any issues with that?
The main challenge would then be finding a winch that could spool freely (so I'm not...
Hi John, Old Magnet, and epirbalex,
Thank you for your help! No, I dont have too much work for it this season; about 20 acres of 25yr old pinus radiata. Some of the trees are a good size. The EC220 I had was struggling to drag some of the sticks. For the most part, the butts would be around...
Hi guys, still hunting around for info. For those who are looking out for some info, found some manuals here: http://www.alliedsystems.com/ASP3/winchservice-noncurrent.asp
Hi All,
Looking for a winch, here in NZ, to fit a D8H (46A31286). I have found something in the North Island a few hours south; a D89C Hyster.
I have the parts book / manual for the tractor, however, there is no mention of the winch, other than fluids. Is there a particular model that I should...
Hi Epirbalex! cheers for the message. The tractor is running well. Had some delays with the paper work / earthworks consent, so just been tidying-up some of the tracks. Haven't managed to get it hot hot yet, but it sounds and runs well :).
Yes, they came as a pair. The blade is after market...
Hi there!
I'm running a D8H & scoop. This is the first time I’ve operated the machine with a scoop hooked up (not sure the make of the scoop..).
The reason for my post; I can’t retract the dumb cylinder / tail door! I’m assuming the problem is the operator .
I pulled the change-over...
I confess, I've developed a few nervous ticks... The machine has had a little bit of wk done - had a good chat with the guys who did the work.
In the last 1000 hrs
- New heads
- New combustion chambers
- New valve guides and valves with springs
- New water pump
- Oil coolers and radiators...
Hi Nige, I'm after 1) the Service Manual, and 2) the Operations & Maintenance Manual.
I see there's a 630 pg service manual on amazon. It's volume 1 of 2?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TLY2NNI/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=AQG5JM9LHB9LX&psc=1
Might only be a year in it.. Could the updated manual mark the change from the 235 to 270Hp?
From an earlier post on this forum S/N 26977 - 29646 was around 1972, while 29647 - 32427 was 1973 ish
Hi Guys, I've just purchased a D8H (46A31286) and am looking for a manual. I have noticed that the majority of manuals end with serial number 46A28136. The tractor I've purchased is a tad younger.
I note that manuals for series 46A10725-46A28136 can be had for a 'sensible price ($120 NZ)...
Hi Guys, I finally purchased a machine and wanted to swing back by this thread and say a big thanks to you all for your input! Without it, i would have been putting a good few hours on a D41 + scoop, and likely regretting it...
I couldn't find a tidy D6C with a 3way (had a broker looking as...
Thank you Gentlemen! I'm very grateful for the input (@deerert295 - not too late at all!). I'm till looking for a machine. I have been searching for a tidy D6C with scoop. It's taking much longer than I would like. Still hopeful I can have something onsite early Jan. Thanks for your comments...
Thank you John. The weight of the D6D I'd pulled of richiespecs was 20,359.7 lb. Your value makes a LOT more sense! Thank you for the correction.
By traction I was referring to the ability to pull a load without scrabbling / loss of traction. Very loosely, calculating the tractive effort, or...
I've been scouring for a D6C / D6D. There appears to be a D6D with cab in good condition - $70,000.

Unfortunatly it is a bull blade. Not...
Hi All. Thank you kindly for your replies / the help!
@DMiller, I was looking at the AG tractors initially, and while cheaper to run, for many of the sites I will still need to form the access-ways / pads etc. I’m not sure I can get away without either a dozer or an excavator. I could purchase...
Hi R.D.G013, An empty pan would make more for more realistic numbers. As you say, I would only need an 8 ton dozer. The chap I was speaking too, however, felt the D41 (~12000kg) would be too small. He was recommending a D51 - a bit too rich for me.
When I started looking at scrapers a rep...
