D3C Dozer - Price per hour?

G'day, I have a Caterpillar D3C Dozer, with PAT blade and rippers. What price per hour (Australian Dollars) should I be charging, including fuel and operator? It will be mainly for local contract work on farms such as fenceline clearing, tracks, banks, small dams, rubble pads etc...

    6-71 Detroit Troubles in a 740 champion

I think that there will be no clearance on the injector, thats why you have to set the height. But I'm not 100% sure, so please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    6-71 Detroit Troubles in a 740 champion

I believe you adjust the injectors in the "relaxed" position. For people that don't have the proper injector timing tool, you can use vernier calipers set to the right dimension for your particular injector to set the injector height.

Rusty Bolts & Lubricants Fun Facts

I think most of those product names must be American, but I saw a test that was done here in Australia a few years ago. Plain diesel worked a little better than products like WD40, CRC, RP7, Penetrene. The main difference is aerosol can products can be more convenient to use, and also have...

    Buddy barry's 740 champion

Unless you want to be able to turn the blade right around backwards to grade in reverse, just remove the swivel and join the hoses together with a couple of nipples. Join them with the blade in the straight position, and then the hoses will twist enough to allow enough blade rotation either side...

    Brake Check

Can any of you explain how pressing the brake pedal while the park brake is already applied can break the spring?

    Crawlers Vs. Truck Cranes

Crawler cranes have rigid frame and steel tracks, forming a solid base. Truck cranes have spring suspension and rubber tyres, and so they need outriggers. There may be other reasons as well but that is what I think is the case.

    CAT 130G Military Rebuild

What don't they like about JIC? ORFS work very well, but I wouldn't have thought it was worth converting from one to the other. Is it to get all their machinery on the same hydraulic fittings type? I have always thought JIC to be quite good. Seems a lot of hassle. Are they early G models? The...

    House Demolition - Aussie style

If our pioneers had to work with the rules and regulations of today, this country would not have been settled. Every house should have an in-ground tank. Even on the hottest summer day you can still get a drink of cool water from the hand pump on our in-ground tank in the backyard.

    House Demolition - Aussie style

Great pictures and story as usual Rn'R, keep 'em coming. Looks like you are still getting enough work to keep you busy, hope it continues.

    Ford 7710 losing water

OK thats a good trick to keep in mind, thanks for that. I suppose you use a fairly thin hydraulic oil? Or just engine oil so that it doesn't dilute the sump oil as it leaks in? We had 2 Ford 9700 tractors, both the same age, one had porous block, the other has done about 8000 hours still on...

    Ford 7710 losing water

Are you saying that you are using oil in the radiator as coolant? I haven't heard of that trick. Or am I interpreting it wrong?

    CAT D9G 66A frozen motor

I think it has been invented already. Haven't tried it myself, but I have heard of people using this trick before.

    D3C fuel transfer pump (3204)

The only problem I can see with that idea is that when this new filter you have put inside the tank blocks up, it will be pretty hard to get at to clean, especially if the tank is full at the time.

    D3C fuel transfer pump (3204)

We have a D3C dozer with 3204 engine. It often blocks up the outlet tap right back on the bottom of the fuel tank with muck. You have to blow back through the line to clear it, and then it is right to go. I have never had the filter block up, but the tank outlet tap has blocked heaps of...

    Bolt removal suggestion

Heat it up, then cool quickly by spraying with water. The rapid cooling will help to break the rust better.

    Very muddy harvest video!!!!

Interesting video, you certainly don't see anything like that in this part of the world. I can only remember us being bogged while reaping once, but it wasn't as bad as any of that.

315 bucket will hit cab, need some ideas

You could dismantle the hydraulic cyinder on the stick, and fit a spacer over the rod on top of the piston. This will stop the cylinder from reaching full travel. Tack weld it to the piston so it doesn't rattle up and down and damage the rod surface.

    Cylinder creep

Has anyone purchased any of Brendan Caseys hydraulics books? What are they like?

How do you think operators should treat equipment?

You blokes are lucky if you have windows, cabins, air-conditioners, on your machines. There are still plenty that don't, out working in the dust and heat.
