How much work is there in Wisconsin?

Thanks for the help. I would like to get on with an outfit as an operator, but I could work as a laborer too. At 37 I'm starting to get up there in age but I can still handle a shovel pretty good.

How much work is there in Wisconsin?

I'm a small excavating contractor in California, and work is slow but steady but I can actually make a living. My girlfriend wants to move to Wisconsin (Shawano area) and I have no idea if I can move there and still earn a living doing what I do. Where I live now I work primarily for...

    Opinions on Volvo CTLs?

There are a few of these at a local auction so I was wondering if they are worth looking at.

    Opinions on Volvo CTLs?

Specifically on the mct125c and mct135c models. Is the single loader arm design strong enough for tough digging? It seems like the loader arm would bend if loaded heavily on the left side, but that's just how it looks to me. After checking some specs on these models it seems like they would be...

    Hydraulic fluid

The last time I changed the hydraulic fluid in my mini I used Chevron Rando 46. It's about time to change it again and I already have a bucket of Napa AW 46, and the Napa stuff is only $40 per 5 gallon bucket and not to mention they're right down the street from me. Since hydraulic fluid is the...

chevron rando 46 vs. napa aw 46 hydraulic fluid

Is one any better than the other to put in a mini excavator? Or are all aw46 oils pretty much the same?

    boom swing not working right

I have a IHI 35N. The boom swings to the right like normal but when i try to swing it to the left it just creeps real slow. All of the other hydraulics seem to be working like normal. Does it sound like i have a problem in the control valve or does it sound like something else? Any help would be...

    JD450 Issues

My dads 450 doesn't want to move in forward sometimes and he just pops the clutch with his foot and it goes. Glad to hear you're getting it fixed though.

What's the largest excavator you pull with a pickup truck?

My 99' Ford F-250 4x4 wears all the tires perfectly evenly. The only time they wear unevenly is when I needed to replace worn front end parts or needed an alignment.

What's the largest excavator you pull with a pickup truck?

I think it's funny that people on this forum can talk about all kinds of heavy equipment in a civilized manner, but when they start talking about pickup trucks everyone gets all pissy.

    Kubota KX 057

What is the general consensus on the quality of Kubota excavators? A lot of people on here seem to really like them, but I seem to read a lot of posts about broken Kubotas. I've never owned or ran one. I'm just wondering if I should consider one when the time comes to replace my mini.

    Trench compaction

Can you generally achieve 95% compaction using a jumping jack if you beat the hell out of it and put in maybe 6 inch lifts? I'm not quite sure of the soil type.

    3 foot bucket on a 3.5 ton

eric12, thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I was looking for. What kind of clay are you digging in? I encounter hard clay sometimes that can be hard to dig with a 2 foot bucket. Is the clay you dig with the 3 footer soft and wet?

    Looking for a track loader

He only plans to use it 200-300 hours a year for farm use. There's no need for him to spend big money on a 953 when a much cheaper 955 will get the job done.

    3 foot bucket on a 3.5 ton

Does anyone use a 3 foot digging bucket on a 3.5 ton mini? If so, what kind of ground do you use it in and how does the mini handle it? I could use a 3 foot bucket but I'm not sure if my 3.5 tonner could handle it.

    Looking for a track loader

Well it figures that the link didn't work. If you go to machinerytrader.com and type in jd 555g in the search box, then scroll down to the last tractor listed there is an example of a wide track loader. I think the wide track and LGP options are even more rare on larger machines but I'm sure...

    Looking for a track loader

This is the first time I've tried posting a link so I hope it works. http://www.machinerytrader.com/listingsdetail.aspx?OHID=9164715 This machine is a little smaller than what you're looking for, but would get the jobs done you are looking to do.

    Looking for a track loader

Yes you can put dozer grousers on a loader if you want. I believe the reason they don't come with them unless special ordered is that the track loader is primarily designed to load trucks which means lots of turning, and the semi grousers are easier on everything when doing lots of turning. I...
