    Corruption in New England

The crooked contractor is the one holding back the name of the crooked official. I just got back from vacation, and nothing has really come out of this case. It will be interesting, when the contractor begins to talk to see the little people he drags down with him. I understand quite a few...

    Snow Plowing

Here is a new twist on snowplowing. I don't normally do alot of it, mostly just hate the wear and tear on the equipment, but this year, figured I should keep busy, who knows what next year will bring in the building business. So normally I have a couple small shopping centers, a church parking...

    Corruption in New England

Here is a cut paste of the newspaper article: NEW HAVEN, Conn.—A developer was indicted on charges of bribing a public official in Shelton with cash and work on his house, federal prosecutors said Monday. James Botti, 45, of Shelton faces a seven-count indictment charging him with bribing...

    Corruption in New England

It seems this is a disease here, government officials in bed with construction companies and developers, and they are all getting caught. Just heard this week about a new case. how stupid can these townies be if the freaking governor got caught doing the same thing a few years back. I...

    Where are the CEO's?

The problem with spell check, if you use the wrong word, but it is spelled correctly, it flies. As far as the guys in the suits messing up your job, sure it happens. But in these times, with work limited and competition fierce, it makes sense to look, act, and operate as professionally as you...

    Where are the CEO's?

You are pretty much on the money on that! I see alot of guys wanting to go it alone, they have no idea how the equipment works, so they don't know if their employees are running it into the ground. They have no idea of keeping a good image. This one guy I see has a kid working for him, the...

    Where are the CEO's?

Ok dudes, alot of us got into this business because we wanted to work for ourselves. Some of us are the CEO's of our own companies, and worked hard to build our business, get good equipment, keep good help. Why don't more of us act the part? I'm not talking wearing suits and Italian loafers...

    Farm Work

What I am finding is that these projects are almost as endless as the Big Dig in Boston. The people never know when to stop, so it is a good long term project, and if nothing else, usually a safe place to park your equipment if it isn't working elsewhere. The horse people are generally good at...

    Farm Work

Here in our area (Northeast), there seems to be a ton of work setting up horse farms. Most of the useful land was used for tract housing back in the dark days, and people starting up horse farms want land cleared, riding arenas made, special soil mixed for the arenas, pastures cleared, etc...

    Where are the labororers?

Understood, but I would rather work on a job site for 20 an hour than flip burgers for 7.

    Where are the labororers?

OK. I am in New England. Weather is good right now. We have work, we pay fair wages, benefits. Supposedly economy sucks, and no one has a job, right? We can't get laborers. Up until last year, we would get college kids home for vacation in the summer, and always had people asking for full...

    Good Bye to the D4

Let me figure out how to do the picture thing, and see if the squeeze will take the picture.

    Lightning

Well dude, can't answer that for you, but things happen for a reason. My buddy with the minivan had been promising his wife a new car for weeks.

    Lightning

Dude that blows. Had a guy here whose minivan got hit, the lights and wipers all went on, even with no key in the ignition. Hope your wiring system doesn't get fried!!!!! Someone upstairs must be mad at you!

    Taxes

I don't believe IRS has such a list. What I am saying is, if you put that as a line item on your invoice, your customer is likely going to call IRS. In turn, some government employee is going to say this is strange, what else could he be doing. They may find nothing wrong with your books, but...

    Hay business ???

Yeah I have to admit, horse people are a pain in the ass. Dated a horse chick for a bit, she ran me ragged. I spent more time on her projects than I did my own stuff. The one thing about 'em they generally pay quick.

    Good Bye to the D4

Tonight I sold my D4, celebrated in my normal way, went and got a D4 tattoo!

    Taxes

I bet the first time you put IRS taxes as a line item on your invoice, your customer is gong to call IRS, and you will get a sweet review of your books. And no, the employer does not pay the IRS as part of your pay, they DEDUCT the taxes from your net pay.

    Help

Easy there dudes, it may have been KMS who twisted the knob too far. If he goes to the dealer, they can give him a crash course in how to operate it!

    Taxes

CM. dude, you are supposed to figure your tax liability into your operations costs, but KMS seemed to ask if he can charge his taxes as a line item to his customers. He cannot do that. The poor guy is new to the business, based on his questions, so in his sense of the question, he can't bill...
