Few Quiz Questions on 793 Cat Dumpies???

Morenci and Sierrita both have 100k+ hour trucks running. Sierrita's 30 truck is the oldest/highest houred, with Morenci's 501 truck coming in second. Last time I drove the 30 truck (in 2004 or 2005) it had just been converted to the HD engine and VIMS cab. Here's the 30's sister from the...

    New 988H Its here!

We've got six 824H's, a 988G and 2 988H's that all do the same thing. It's a sensor issue, they replace it and a few hundred hours later it starts again. The 992D also does it once in a while, but all you have to do is stomp the declutch a few times to get it to clear up.

A few pics from my world

The 16 came from Tyrone, not too sure of the number there, and the 17 was the 108 shovel at Miami. For right now, with depressed copper prices and production cutbacks, the oldest and least productive are getting benched for now. We've scaled back our tonnage budget from 1.2 million TPD to...

A few pics from my world

    In addition to the above machines, the 40 (4100XPB), 14 & 15 (4100A) and 16 (4100) are still digging. The 10, 11, 12, 13 (all 4100A's), 17 (4100) and 39 (4100XPB) are all set out for the time being, along with the 70 & 71 (RH340 O&Ks).

WOW!!! That 824 is even older and cruddier than the 4 we have!!! (Yet I bet it runs better too).

    Correcting some elses mistakes

It's an everyday occurence in the mine to have to spend the better part of a day fixing the previous shift's screwups. Nobody takes pride in their work anymore, it's all about speed and production. I fondly remember one of my early dozer trainers' words: "It's not about speed, it's about...

pics from the Largest Open Pit Mine in the World

Here's good old Phelps Dodge Morenci - biggest producer in North America.....It's from 12 miles up, but it's the only way I could fit everything in. I can even nearly point out my house on here!!

    late employees

Here, we've got the 40 hr "bucket". Any time you're late or have a no show or take vacation/PTO without 20 hrs notice, it takes "X" time from your bucket. If you're late, even 5 minutes, it's an hour off the bucket. If you're AWOL, it's 40 hours off. When the bucket is gone and you have any of...

if you fall off of this get your eyes checked>>LOL

My dear lord!! And I thought that it was ridiculous with JUST those idiotic ladders. Always looking for new ways to make our lives more difficult (And inspiring me to stick to shovels!!)!

    Equipment video game?

On Immersive's website, they have clips from the simulated Phelps Dodge Sierrita mine - took me right back home!! Except for the images of the truck shop ready line - it's NEVER that organized!!

13 D11's pushing side by side in slots

Here we've found that side by side effectiveness versus individual slots varies with material type, shot density, operators, and machine differences like you said. Out of all factors, operators are the biggest - some guys just can't work together in that close of quarters safely. And here we...

    Venting and the weather

It's been giving us fits with regular thunderstorms the last several days. During the days, we've got lightning postponing shots, so blasting isn't keeping up with the shovels, and whichever shovels are in the postponed shots' areas will get abandoned until the shot can safely go down. Then...

Got any good desktop backround pics??

I figured I may as well look at the same thing I stare at for 12 hours on workdays at home too - I even have that stupid little dozer on the CAES system pop in my head while I'm trying to get to sleep at night.

    The Big Iron!

Yes sir! PD's flagship up here. Great place to live and work (especially with the cost of company housing!!). Nice, quiet small town, and getting to play with the really big toys for a good chunk of change - well worth the move if you're so inclined. Another great thing up here is that...

    The Big Iron!

Really there's a shortage of everyone here. Operations are expanding at a far greater rate and pace than the training department can keep up with. Mining isn't a job for everyone, but it's certainly the best I've ever had.

    The Big Iron!

If you want to move to Arizona, we've got a bunch of openings in road maintenance. We've got several 24H's, and a few 16G's and 16H's thrown in for good measure. I never seem to have a camera handy when they're running triple 24's - it'd make a good picture too:crying
