My Trojan 114 tractor shovel thread.

Do yourself a favour and get the glowplugs working! The ether method will catch up to you. Those are tough old engines but will give up the ghost if they ingest to much fire fluid. Good luck with your restoration.

    Cat grader crash today

I have to wonder about the length of the "pushblock"? Putting something like that in the field of vision is asking for trouble. Anyone who has run s G series Deere will know what I'm talking about. Should be used parts available as there have been thousands of those made. Like to know...

    Engine Blow By

I have found relative humidity seems to affect perception of blow by. In some cases I believe it may be steam exiting as opposed to actual combustion gases entering the crankcase. This seems to depend greatly on engine operating temperature but I have been concerned more than once to find a...

    Cat 950 Loader Question

Clean machine Should have a Bosch wiper assembly which were common to a lot of equipment. A good jobber should be able to fix you up or even a salvage yard. Caterpillar would be pretty proud of it I'm sure if you could sort out the serial number. Single lever transmission control? Guessing...

20 year old CAT 140G vs a NEW MITSUBISHI GRADER

Didn't Mitsu used to make graders under the license of Caterpillar? Not really relevant I guess but they must have learned a thing or 2. Anyways like Nige says its all good if you have someone able to troubleshoot the electronics

Daewoo used loader prices - very low.

A master disconnect switch to isolate the batteries when not in use. They didn't come equipped with one and with infrequent use the batteries drain and then boosting is required.

Air Vantage 500 vs Big Blue Air Pak

Air dryer is nice but pricey. Is basically 2 Turbo 2000 units mounted back to back. Do a google search. May be cheaper to retrofit.

Air Vantage 500 vs Big Blue Air Pak

Cant beat them where space is at a premium. Say what you want about pipeliners etc, but the railroads seems to use Miller exclusively and there is a reason for that.

Air Vantage 500 vs Big Blue Air Pak

I have heard that the Lincoln doesn't have enough power to run both welder and compressor on the highest settings. We have Air Paks and they never waiver when welding even when turning the air on and off. They say the compressor should run 30 000 hours before overhaul. Again what was said about...

    JD 872 ate my phone

I've had the same on our G model. Was able to reach it by using a stick with 3M brand two way tape on the end. Worst problem was locating the phone. Good luck
