    NH 555E grill makover.

Nice job! My grill was missing so I just cut a piece of expanded metal to fit the hole with no frame work. Now I feel lazy.

    Low coolant temp?

I see several different part numbers listed for 310J thermostats but none have any temperature details listed. You need to look at the temperature stamp on the thermostat or it's package to see what you installed and ask a parts department if there are any temperature alternatives or options...

    Radiator leak

I suspect the actual leak is above that point and dripping down to the tube you photographed. That loop looks more like an oil cooler or maybe a AC condenser.

Republic Oil 5% Moly #1 Heavy Duty High Temp Grease

I don't know why I was thinking 1 was thicker than 2. This may not be the best for my pins. As far as moly in wheel bearings go I have used nothing but Valvoline Ford/Lincoln moly wheel bearing grease in wheel bearings for all of my mechanical life. NEVER had a bearing fail with it. It doesn't...

Republic Oil 5% Moly #1 Heavy Duty High Temp Grease

I've been meaning to try this grease for a while and finally got around to ordering it. It looks like good thick grease that should stay in the pins well. Being #1 grade I should be okay using it here in FL. I messaged them before and was told they put protective caps on the aluminum pop top...

    555e Floor

OMG! Never seen these. Sets are pricey but individual sizes are pretty reasonable. https://miltonindustries.com/collections/lti-tools-shockit

    555e Floor

On the tightness topic one method I use when I have room is to position both wrenches close together and squeeze them with a large pair of channelloc pliers.

    555e Floor

I wonder what it looks like under the controls cover?

    555e Floor

Very limited access but you might be able to get enough light on it by pulling the panel under the pedals. My cab model also has a box that looks removable under the seat where the AC evaporator and heater core are but I didn't pull it all the way out. The seat is one heavy SOB to get in...

    What's your hoe doing?

This is how I set up to rebuild the crowd on my 575E.

    What's your hoe doing?

You can try calling them with your model and serial number to see if they can decipher it. Don't be surprised if they say you have to replace the piston and gland. If you have a hydraulic shop in the area you can possibly take the piston and gland to them and get the seals matched up.

    What's your hoe doing?

You got dirt on it? Better go clean that thing up!

    Bearing Press

I was fighting with some spindle bearings a while back and saw a sale on the HF press. Made room in the garage for it and have found use for it twice since doing the job I bought it for.

    CHALLENGER A/C not cooling

Chart says low side normal, high side high, would indicate poor condenser flow or high side restriction. If the tx was clogged it should be pulling a vacuum on the low side. Was the compressor new or rebuilt?

    What's your hoe doing?

Swetz, What kind of generator did you buy that needs a trailer that stout? Seems overkill for 1500 lbs. My MEP803A diesel generator is 1100lbs dry but I just have it on patio pads behind the garage.

    What's your hoe doing?

I would take my engine degreaser nozzle and a gallon of phosphoric acid to that thing.

Come along on two pipe wrenches

One of my scariest tool mishaps dates back to my early twenties. I had a business partner and we worked out of a Texaco station repairing Volvos mainly. We were removing a brake drum from the rear of a 122 Volvo. They fit on a tapered, keyed shaft. We had a massive puller that bolted onto 3 of...

    Radio Replacement

Replacing a single din radio couldn't get any easier and it turns on and off with the key. You can get one for >25 bucks with all the features you would need in a backhoe.

    Radio Replacement

I'm on my second replacement. Both have been simple mechless single din units with blue tooth. I haven't been able to see the display on either outside of the barn. I just have a low profile USB drive loaded with a bunch of MP3s for music. Having the blue tooth in case the wife calls is a must...

Ford New Holland 655E backhoe Shuttle Shift Issue

Make sure the disconnect switches on the loader and shift handles are not shorted. Here is a wiring diagram.
