HDX, glad you liked the picture. I worked on the forestry side of Pacific, out of Saanichton first then Qualicum Beach for the Mid Coast area (Rivers Inlet and Owikeno Lake camps) so did not get to know the production sides very well. Also did not take a lot of pictures back then on the job...

    Martin Mars Water Bomber Tribute

I read through the thread quickly and can offer some other insights. When I was working for Pacific Logging (one of the 3 owners of Forest Industries Flying Tankers [FIFT] along with MB and BCFP) I was trained and qualified to call the Mars when I was on fire duty, mostly for the Rivers Inlet...

BC logging equipment left to rust

Not much of this left around as a lot of the old camps got cleaned up when the scrap metal prices were high; and it was a good time to get rid of potential environmental liabilities. I took that picture in 2008.

MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. Red & White Iron, Past and Present....

My first encounter with H17, May 2008. Was totally amazed at how well kept it was. I got the story then about the driver who would get to keep it when the time came, and I am glad that promise has been kept. Maybe a bit unpopular here (I was never a MB guy, I worked for Pacific Logging) but I...

Saw this in Oregon in 2014. Now used to support tower operations: Did not see it in actual use as they were in the process of moving the tower to a new setting.
