D8N equalizer bar bushing bores worn?

Well, I ended up going with a new e bar from my local jobber shop. Finning couldn’t give me an ETA so I went that route instead. The install went good. Threw a new set of shoes on while it was in the yard. She’s back out piling trees. Thanks everyone for all the info.

D8N equalizer bar bushing bores worn?

That turned out nice. Looks like you built it up and machined new bores as opposed to putting a sleeve in? The center bore is good yet on this one. I’ll definitely price out a reman. Thanks for the info.

D8N equalizer bar bushing bores worn?

Maybe the picture is misleading but the bore is egg shaped by about 0.350”. The snap ring grooves are basically gone for half the bore also. It really wasn’t that bad of a job. I put down plywood for running a creeper on and it was above freezing. Just needed a light pair of insulated...

D8N equalizer bar bushing bores worn?

Yesterday was about -18C or 0F here. Today it was above freezing here. Was nice except for the melting snow dripping on a guy. Not gonna complain though. I was talking to a friend from southern SK and it was way colder there. Strange. Would have been plenty of space inside but, there’s a...

D8N equalizer bar bushing bores worn?

Thanks Nige. That attachment was very informative on the updates. The oil filled ends look like a much better setup than the grease. The centre pin was pretty tight. Those are two 30 ton hollow rams and they were nearly maxed out to get it moving. They only have a 1” hole so I put them on...

D8N equalizer bar bushing bores worn?

Hi guys. I’m working on a D8N 9TC02252. The end bores of the equalizer bar are worn. They’re egg shaped by about 0.350”. The centre bore is fine. I haven’t priced a new or used one yet as I just got it apart. I’m wondering if getting the bores built up and line bored is a good option for...

John deere 690e lc hydraulic oil switch

I switched my 690e lc from hygard to 0W30 engine oil after the second pump failure. I’m not sure if Linde pumps are recommended to use AW 46.

    "Farm Dozer"

Why not? We have a D8N and I think it’s the perfect size for clearing bush and moving dirt. We also have a D6C but it only comes out when we have a spare operator for it or need to deal with soft conditions.

    D6C Brace

Hi Keith. When you say you're having a hard time getting the brace back on the dowel are you referring to fitting the inside end of the brace arm back on the dead axle, or the dowel that keeps the brace bushings from turning inside the brace arm? Is your equalizer bar possibly binding up in...

D8N leaking hyd oil into transmission

That is awesome. I'm always amazed at how fast the chaining goes. That looked great where they did it both ways. Up here there's quite a few bigger ~24" poplar, spruce or pine trees. They stop my D8N in its tracks and you have to tilt the blade and cut a few brace roots before you can push them...

D8N leaking hyd oil into transmission

Hi queenslander. We walk the trees down with the blade up a couple feet. Most of the stumps roll out of the ground with the tree. Mostly dealing with poplars, willows and some spruce or pine here. This is after walking it down. Next we pile with a brush rake. This gets all the logs and...

D8N leaking hyd oil into transmission

Lol. I like that. I've taken to calling her Bertha and her little sister the D6C is Betty.

D8N leaking hyd oil into transmission

Yeah, me too. My Mrs wasn't really amused with the thought of having to drop another big chunk of change so soon.

D8N engine rebuild. Couple of questions.

Thanks guys. I'll get a sample soon. It usually runs 6-800 hrs a year and 250-300 hrs on an oil change so I'll aim to do a 150 hr interval.

D8N leaking hyd oil into transmission

Well I think I lucked out this time. I replaced the shaft seals on the pump and steering motor. Filled the hyd oil and did a 4 hr job just across the road from the shop. Monitored the level and it rose 3/8" due to the oil warming up. Replaced the transmission oil and took it back to the...

D8N leaking hyd oil into transmission

Thanks guys. I do have a service manual. I pulled the pump and motor. A reman pump is $11,700 and a reman motor is $6800. It's a little more than I was expecting. Checked a few hyd shops and they're at least a 2-3 week turnaround. I've never opened up a piston pump or motor but figured why...

D8N leaking hyd oil into transmission

Hi guys. Last night my operator called that the hyd oil was low as it had cavitated when he was pushing up a pile. This is a D8N 9TC02252. It was fine in the morning and after seven hours it had lost 45 L. It was dark but we could see it dripping from a stump pan. The transmission oil was...

D8N engine rebuild. Couple of questions.

Hi Nige. Yes I have changed the oil at 70 hrs. I have used oil sampling in the past to verify issues such as fuel dilution previously. With all the work that went into this rebuild I'll look at starting sampling it. What kind of schedule would you recommend? I'm just actually...

D8N engine rebuild. Couple of questions.

Well I figured it's time for an update. She has 100 hours and no surprises yet. I have a pic of when I hauled it to the 1/4 we're clearing bush on but haven't been back to see it till today as we had to replace a broken pin on the brush rake. My dads cousin has been running it and he's the...

D8N engine rebuild. Couple of questions.

Finally got everything hooked up. Went to start it and she cranked real slow and some smoke signals from the starter. My dad who usually operates it had mentioned the starter was getting weak but it slipped my mind. Open the starter up and it was a carboned up mess inside as the seal was leaking...
