    Cat 246 Engine Oil Pump

It's a pretty big problem, this is an older thread, but recently there's a few more on here that have had engine failure as a result of the oil pump ..

    CAT B277 loss of power

My 246 goes thru fuel filters pretty fast..I change both every year and I only put about 50 hrs a year on..I also installed a pre filter ahead of the 30 micron filter...previous owner apparently didn't feel keeping crap out of the fuel tank was a priority..

Cat 246 with blown engine, looking for parts and advice pls

I have a Cat 246.... Reading these engine threads scares me...does anyone know if the new oil pumps have been improved so they do not crack? This is a pretty big engine defect that is costing owners a ton of money to repair..i have 1800 ish hours on my machine, and I'd rather deal with this...

    Proper Towing Rig

I personally wouldn't use that truck for anything more than a few miles from town..I'm sure it will work, but the 05 6.0 isn't exactly the most reliable pulling truck when pushed hard....to have reliability at that gvwr I feel you'd need an egr delete, and a good going over by a reputable...

CAT 236B Rim change to reduce width

    I have a 246, I'm pretty sure a 236 is a larger machine than a 242...the 236 has a bigger engine and more hydraulic power,as its basically a 246 without a turbo...I could be wrong,nut when i bought my machine I did a lot of research,and looked at a 242 and it was quite a bit smaller than my 246.

    JD 410 Diesel engine problem

It sounds as if you may have got it a little too hot for too long and hurt the engine. All the symptoms you describe go with scuffed piston skirts, and possible scoring of the liners that come with running an overheating engine under a good load.Im not sure as to why your temps are fluctuating so...

Weight laws, restrictions, 3/4 ton w/ 14k bumber pull?? HELP!

I wouldn't worry about towing 14k with a 10k truck.. That's fine, do get the us dot #s, triangles, spare fuses, light bulbs, Medical card, and inspected fire extinguisher.. You may need to replace the factory receiver hitch, unless Ford upgraded them recently, the last one I used had a 2.5"...

    Another Perkins Pukes

I am sorry for you Steve, and scared for myself,as I have a 246,with the same engine..Im pretty sure the 248 has a 3034T in it,around 74hp net. When researching machines to purchase,I seen several with reman or new engines, and under 2000Hrs.....

    Slow movin Michigan Loader

I read this thread with interest,as I have a older 75A. I guess here I thought I had a 75A,but my machine is much larger than the ones pictured here,as well as being articulated.Mines got a 4-71 in it as well.

    Please explain axle rating

Im not following your math here.If the trailer has 2-5k axles, then its MAX GVWR is 10000.If it weighs 2500,then its payload is 7500.

    kubota engines synthetic oil

The biggest advantage to running it is during cold starts and operation, and at high temps.Cold starting is much faster and easier on the starter motor, esp in winter.Engine life is extended thru getting pressurized oil faster. If your diesel has a turbocharger, which most do anymore, the synthetic...

    kubota engines synthetic oil

Whatever synthetic is used, make sure the API label starts with a C for compression ignition engines! Ive seen many ppl think they can use regular Mobil 1 10w30 car oil in there diesels, and you can't.Gasoline oils the label starts with an S for spark ignition. This is VERY important,as you will...

    Michigan loaders

A few pics of my old 75A with the detroit 4-71 noisemaker.I got one tire with a a slow leak,as you can see.It needs some brake work, but runs great, and has very strong hydro, and no leaks.Id like to fix the brakes,I really use it for mainly snow, and removing trees.

    Possible New Bobcat 863 owner

Welcome to HEF! It sounds to me like you cant turn down the deal you are being offered. The price is great,as long as it is in good condition,I dont see how you can go wrong for that money.I went from a tractor to a skid steer, and the ability to see the cutting edge of the bucket on a SS is a...

    Need advice on trailer ratings

This is just my opinion, but you may want to look at a bigger truck as well.An older F350 is small to pull the a 310 JD or a 580 Case.I know it can do it,but your going to have the tail wagging the dog scenario, esp with a bumper pull. If you are going to do it,I suggest a gooseneck,like...

    Billing the customer when stuck?

IMO,it depends on the agreed terms of the work to be done.If the contractor expresses the machines limitations, customer still wants them to try it,rather than wait or pay for more expensive tracked machine, then they should pay.On the other hand,if you are paid to do a job hourly, the operator...

Deere Lock-Up Torque Converter Blows 4-Spd Away

That was an excellent video. It is about time they started making lockup tcs, once under way there is no reason to be in fluid coupling mode,it wastes power, and makes heat.My old loader is terrible, always feels like its slipping, esp up hills due to the loose convertor.I know cat skidders have...

    Quick attach grapple pictures

Look at how nicely my husqvarna powrbox fits the opening of the grapple. It actually fits in tightly, and doesnt move, like it was meant for it! With the attachment,I was able to log out a big pile of log length firewood for next yr in a matter of a few hours,I think I have enough for next yr.
