    Anyone used a wet sandblaster?

I watched a video of a guy using a blaster that used air and crushed dry ice. Completely stripped a '60's something full size chevy car in 45 minutes. Didn't have to worry about hitting any rubber components and when it was over there was nothing but paint dust on the ground. Very impressive!! Mike

Cat 12M3 Motor Grader - Dead

They don't send their mechanics out to sell machines so why send a salesman out to repair machines?? Mike

    Electronics, Gotta Love it

It's been my opinion for quite awhile that the more electronic crap they add just means more stuff to go wrong!! Mike

I've seen tires, and steel tracks over tires, but never steel tires..

many years ago company I worked for had a 988 with steel tracks mounted on tires. It was used for working shot rock. It was an extremely rough ride!! I guess you could call it a portable rock crusher, LOL!! Mike

    Wisconsin VG4D engine help

Judging by your location I'll suggest pulling all the cooling air tin to see how many mouse, wasp and mud dauber nests are in there. Be a shame to have a good engine ruined from overheating.

    Un readable dipsticks

Check with the engine cold and stopped. If it reads overfull it has enough. Next time you change oil, start it and let it run for a minute, shut it off and walk away for awhile. Pull the dipstick with it stopped, now you know what full is with it stopped. I've seen dipsticks in older Cat engines...

Best winter boots for a mobile mechanic.

One little trick I use with felt lined boots is a pair of cotton socks with an empty bread bag over each foot and wool socks over that. Keeps the sweat from soaking into the felt liner. Mike

Fenders on tandem truck with lowboy?

Queenslander, that was my thought too. I'd think you could use three of the spring type mud flap brackets. Elevator bolts work good for this application with belting. Mike

D65-18 beginner question, when to use the brake?

For your neck's sake I hope it has a decelerator and you use it for all changes of direction. Mike

Crushing Gravel - 2" to 3/8 pea needs angler shape not round

I think you need to take a representative sample of the material to be crushed, take it to a testing lab to find what percentages are passing 3/8", how much is retained on a 3/8" sieve and on down to to #200 before deciding what to buy to crush it down. I just read 3/8" mentioned but what do you...

I've seen heavy flat bar welded to two old worn out teeth on the outer adapters. They can be changed back and forth when needed. Mike

PAT dozer blade operating tips? New to dozers

That's why us old catskinners say have to develop a bubble in your a$$. Keep your groundspeed as slow as possible and as your skill develops your speed will increase. The horizontal amount of cut you make depends on how deep a cut you're taking. Mike

To add grouser bars or not?

One more suggestion, don't use the steering clutches. Instead use the tilt to make it go where you want while the blade is loaded. Ya gotta make the cat work for ya, not against ya!! Mike

To add grouser bars or not?

If your trying to cut a road in a sidehill, starting at the forward end of your cut just slightly angle into the cut and lift the blade slowly as you move forward cutting the bank, back up 20'-30' and repeat all the way to the back. Now start picking up what you've knocked down and using the...

What is it with horsepower ratings?

The pic of the Datsun reminds me of yrs ago when we were crushing rock for the county and residents could buy crushed rock for cost. A guy was coming in with a like Datsun as pic'd and would load under the belt with rock running off all sides. I just knew he was going to break both rear springs...

    Great Greasing!

I've always said grease is the cheapest maintenance item you can buy so don't worry about greasing too often. Mike

    I am liking it.

On picking the container I'll advise marrying the choker eyes on the hook with a large shackle. I'll assume the chain come along on the one corner took the strain OK.
