    This was interesting

I was poking around and found this and had to share. Interesting job for someone, but mad skill in the need for the dig. I think we could all respect the build from the things we have to come up with from time. The first link shows more of the project and the second shows more of the...

    Silly Question

I am just backwards of that. You should see me on a 953 or 963 ( note: from a distance ). Every time the bucked moves I have a tendancy to turn. Even though I'm the one moving the bucket in the first place. I acually prefer foot control over pilot with one exeption ASV 4500 was a sweet machine...

lever type grease gun versus pistol grip type

I just found a pistol grip at tractor supply last week that I like a lot. has two settings a volume and a preasure. The preasure seems to work really good. had a couple of fittings been fighting for a while with the old lever gun and they gave in pretty quickly to the pistol gun.

    dredging material question?

By the ton would be a nice option. However that would add time to the haul to scale plus being out of the way. With the number i was given I needed to be around I can't see it happening for even break even. Unless you could turn two or three loads an hour. Closest site I've located so far is...

    dredging material question?

Thanks for the reply mitch504 I don't think I can come in to range with my price at these weights. With the added varibles I'm not really prepared to try to get really competative and may pass.

    Hard hat Redesign

I don't do much work requiring one. I also try to avoid it to the point I do not even own one at present. My complaint was always the stapping system was always uncomfortable and not very stable ( may have just been a sheap product ). Also the weight was anoying. Some sort of vent system...

    dredging material question?

I'm looking at removal of some dredged material. I can't nail down enough info to make a safe bid so i'm pretty sure I'm way out of the ball park at present ( not even sure if there is enough inthe budget for my quote and other items ). I know the haul time. What I do not have is a weight...

    fuel suppliers

Not exactly on topic, but a reginal supplier in my area has been known to pump 87 octane fuel in to the 93 octane tanks on numerous ocasions for years. Is very noticable in high preformace custom engines. So if I was in doubt I'd move to another supplier or do testing in an instant...

    topcon training in Las Vegas?

Cool. Glad ya enjoyed it. I'm probably gonna have to stick to Topcon for a while yet. Have way to much invested in GRS-1 to swap now. Since it's more of a tinker toy than an income producing item for now. Also have a dozer already wired for topcon just need the hardware ( which I can easily...

    Machinery trader

I take the call for price machines right out of my searching by just searching for machines priced at a minimum of 1 dollar. I'll add maximum amount a lot too to limit the machines out of my price range. I also search US only as shipping would price most machines out of my catagory. I...

    topcon training in Las Vegas?

When ya get back I'd like to hear what ya thought of the training if ya don't mind. What your knowledge of there software and system were before going and would you foot the bill for what you learned ( was it enough bang for the buck ).

Kobelco Blade runner, replace a dozer????

I used one once to cut and grade a pad on a lot. It was a bit of a learning curve for me anyway. the blade would dig in really fast and want to start to washboard. I did really like the machine and it would be really handy in certain situations once use to it. One neat feature I liked about...

light excavation insurance in NY looking 4k to much

My partner just mentioned ours to me the other day ( he does all banking and insurance stuff ). Seems like he said ours is gonna be around 1800 a year now that we added a trexcavator to the list. I also think he said when we added the skidsteer to the general policy it raised it 18 dollars...

light excavation insurance in NY looking 4k to much

If you can depending on the type of work you do try quoting the insurance as grading not excavation. My guess would be you meet the requirements for the most part with a skidsteer. Or talk to an agent about a percentage of excavation. I've heard a few conversations in my area about these tips.

    Estimating Equipment Operating Costs

I have a spread sheet or two I picked up from constructionequipment.com before it was sold that may help a little. They are kinda enteresting to plug the numbers into. I may even have the acompanying articles to go with them ( not certain of that though ). I would just post them, but that is...

    Sitting on the fence

I hit the jack pot here. The state DOT has a network I can get on for 300 a year with a 3 year contract as apposed to topcons for 199 a month when I bought my GRS-1. I came across something in the past week or two looked like they may have went up to 300 a month. I've been kind of laying in...

    Sitting on the fence

From my perspective it's the cost at #1 spot. I am slowly moving that way though. I purchased a GRS-1 rover the end of last year to learn with a little in spare time before it had to be making me money. I just went for the submeter acuracy at present with plans to upgrade when I know a...

    Machinery trader

Thanks for the input. That's why I brought it up here to get both sides of the idea instead of just my own thoughts. That's why I liked the one on uship the seller/provider was able to responde to complaints. It wasn't a rant back and forth just a one time reply from each party it apeared...
