    Hoover Dam Bypass pics

Bridge work was probably one of my favorite jobs. Pretty much every skill you have is involved at some point and the ride to work at the top is something that will wake you in the morning. The only bad thing is trying to secure stuff when the wind gets up, and thunderstorms... they tingle if...

    Sugar Cane Operation

Tha'ts definitely a new one on me. We don't plant feild that huge of cane so it's a totally different thing. We usually use a modified corn planter to set the seed thenharvest with a picker that ties the cane into bundles. If it's too muddy to harvest like that out come the long knives and...

there are a few Asplundh crews somewhere around here. not many though. I think they are based either out of Lexington or Corbin locally. It's funny you mentioned the watershed areas , here everything ends up in Lake Cumberland and many ROW's (especially trans lines) they spray every four or five...

    building new house

rain very true. Ironically were have a nice thunderstorm building this minute. :D Clay isn't terrible to work with we have three types here red, yellow and blue. the blue is rough to stand on if it's wet. somewhere I have some pics of me and some freinds skiing behind the quad on 2x6's on...

    building new house

Glad to see yer making progress Pete. I know what you mean about the rain. I doubt I'll get my garden out this year because of it and needing to get other things done when it's dry. But it's better to have it than not.

    ARPlante's Adventures

That definitely looks like a smarter way to do things. Around here the foreman will drop off a crew on one end of the right of way with their saws, gas, water, and lunch and finds a spot on the other end to pick them up at the end of the day (if one can be found). Most of our ROW's are 50 feet...

nice work how long does it usually take to clear say a mile (or any other length) of ROW? How's the bobcat holding up for you? That's a smart way to do that around here they still call the tree guys even if it's in the same shape as those in your pics.

Found an intersting thread on another site

This thread is dealing with some wear material this welder puts on his companies mine equipment and some similar material from other companies. Evidently the stuff was got for a decent price. The thread is a few months old so the info shouldn't be too far out of date. The thread...

Is it me or the Dozer

I would definitely get some grouser stock welded on the little beast as well. I agree with everything these guys have said. the little ones are a pain to get used to running but once you have the"bad touch" down you won't have any problems.

How long does it take to get a train moving again after something like that? Do you stay overnight on the other train? Pretty country bet it was cold too. Very windy on the side of that mountain?

    Lucas ?

I've never had any problems with oil being foamy unless the engine was overfilled. That said I used to help a freind with his late model and we kept a small red light on the dash connected to the oil gauge. The light eventually went bad and we didn't know it during one main race a small rock...

Equipment of the future will have?

let's all gather our experience a bunch of our favorite beverages and get together some weekend and build one. I always wanted to be the first kid on my block with one. Sad part is I am totally serious about that. If I had the dough I'd build one today and walk back and forth picking stuff up...

    953C with a 6 way blade

Interstate usually has some odd stuff they're trying to sell. Every few years they'll get something that sits for not quite a year and they'll do away with the custom mods (unless somebody comes in with a good idea or what they think is one) and make it as normal as possible. That one in the...
