    My turn I guess

https://www.nelsonfuneralhomesnd.com/obituary/mitchell-mitch-lloyd I have had the pleasure of getting to know this man pretty well over the last 11 years. Planted almost every acre of his corn for 10 seasons. He was probably the most intelligent man I have ever known in person. Without his...

    Oil sample......

This is an oil sample from a excavator that is selling on Iron Planet. The engine was rebuilt 80 hours ago, and the hydraulic oil was changed at that time. I have my opinions, just wanted to see if you guys agree.

Great...(cue eye roll) another oil thread

2016 Komatsu WA320-7 A35441. Book says to use EO10W-30-DH engine oil for the hydraulics. The hydraulics are the drive pump and motor, and tool functions. The standard for this oil is JASO DH-1 or API CI-4. I plan on using this oil, but I am still going to ask the question, is the CNH Unitek...

    Deere 4630 with 6404 engine

No idea on hours, drained coolant to pull intercooler for changing exhaust gaskets. Coolant looks terrible, green. I have suggested replacing with either DCA based, or ELC to keep things in shape. Owner is concerned changing coolants will promote seal failure. I guess I've heard it before...

    Another one followed me home.......

Been looking for about 4-6 months for a loader. I hoped to find one with a 3rd valve, but I guess they aren't too hard to install. I've been watching this one for about 3 months and today made a play for it. 2016 WA320-7. 4800 hours, Q/C, decent tires, tight pins/bushings, not beat up at...

    Floating pump

Anyone have any experience with these? I'm wondering how they pump 800 gpm with only 5 HP? My 3" pump pulls down when moving 400 gpm. Here is the pump I'm looking at. https://www.agridrain.com/shop/c122/watermaster-floating-pump/p1129/watermaster-floating-pump-package/

    Utility Reefer trailer

Looking at a Utility reefer trailer for a spray trailer. Only one concern, the sides are bulging just a bit inside, and the rivets are pulled on the back corners. Here are a couple pics.

    Oxy-propane rosebud torch

A few years ago, a local welder helped me remove a stuck pin. He pulled out a rosebud torch that ran off propane. It had a rectangular tip with about 10 holes in it. That torch put out more heat than anything I've ever seen. Anyone know what it is, and where a guy can get one? I drew a very...

    Which gun

Have a 13 year old Miller 12RC suitcase. It was a bargain-bin special when we got it, came with a lighter-duty Bernard gun. It has served us decently, other than it's unique enough that when you order (nothing is stocked) consumables, you better get plenty and order more when you get low...

    Brake fluid as an additive

Question was posed in a thread earlier today, and now some discussion on the other forum. Is it just me, am i missing something? It seems like the most ridiculous, totally irresponsible thing a guy could do to a hydraulic system. Add brake fluid to swell rubber to slow/stop leaks. Thoughts??

    1989 RD686 with EC-6 350 Fuel issues?

Had a stray follow me home yesterday. Like the title says. Seems to start ok the first time, or if you shut it off without it being funky. Issue is, after about a minute or two of running, it almost seems like it is running out of fuel. Can hold the pedal full down and it doesn't do...

    Ziegler Cat in Altoona

Anyone have a relationship with these guys? My dad is looking for a dozer, they have one but I think the salesman is playing games since we're 3 states away.

    Question for Nige

I don't have the serial number because it's some farmer, but the machine is a 2004 Caterpillar 420D. Question was what to use in the transmission, front axle, and rear axle. It's not a 4-wheel steer. It should use TDTO 30 in the trans, TDTO 30 in the front axle, and MTO 30 in the rear axle...

    For the Deere guys

    Deere 1810E S.N. T81810E050192 Needing bearings and a seal for a Tail Roller, P.N. AXT14241. Parts book doesn't show a breakdown.

Smart Shift won't go into gear

2006 Freightliner Colombia with C13. I forgot to get the VIN, but we believe it has a Eaton AutoShift with the centrifugal type clutch. It has been growling when engaging for a while, but once you're moving works fine. Today, driver called. Said truck wouldn't go into gear. Shut truck off...

    D6N questions

2004 Caterpillar D6N Serial ALR00371 This machine has fingertip steering. I didn't know any 6Ns were built like this?

    Rebuilding Deere 1810E scraper

About 4" of 80mm pin stuck in a bore that is 1.5" thick, and 16 years to grow in. Three 1" bolts should give a guy about 30 tons of pressure? Obviously fine thread would be better.

    Truck loading

Loading sidedump with my Komatsu 290-11. Just running one truck, takes about 5 minutes to load. What I did on Saturday was set the auto-shutdown to 5 minutes and just let it do it's thing. I have 80 loads to haul. 5 minutes per load is almost 7 hours of idle time, IF I continue like this...

Adding a third spool to a WA320-6/7/8 loader

Anyone done one? Is it something we can do in the shop, or just let Komatsu do it? Looking at a loader that doesn't have one. 2016 -7 with 4600 hours. For the life of me I wish these manufacturers would just put that frickin spool in when it's built.

    Christmas gifts for the guys

Looking for good ideas for gifts for my guys. Obviously I'm not going to buy them new pickups, or send them to the Caribbean, but want to get them something that they will appreciate. Not really setting a dollar amount, planning on doing better than a $50 cheese plate or $100 Texas Roadhouse...
