    Alberta Heavy Haul Gallery

Driving a new mule for a different company. Hauled a 988B this week. Haven't hauled one in over a decade. 55000kg / 121000 lb net. Easy to get legal weights (here in Alberta) with our 10 (2 3 2) axle.

Who makes the best heavy haul truck? (Semi)

If you can't shift stay out of the truck. Imho Good luck getting your foot in the door in this industry if you can only drive an automatic. Allisons are great bulletproof Trans but I'm not sure they're worth the $$. After a 5 yr hiatus from driving truck I received an offer to drive a push truck...

Brand new trailer with hot hubs

I ran into that pulling a brand new 8 wheel stacker to a clients gravel pit this winter. One hub I couldn't touch for more than 2 seconds. Outside temp was @ 0°F. & stacker hadn't moved in dealers yard in over a year. I carry an infared thermometer now. 150° is a safe number. Keeping in...

    hyster ring gear

Yup. Resealed the 2 halves with 'great stuff' silicone + new gasket. No leaks. Been going strong since march with no issues. Knock on wood. Any hydraulics? If not it could be a drive chain issue driving 2 pumps. T into external Trans pump and check presures. (or was that 2nd pump just...

    Differences between a CAT D6 and a D7

Tracks should sag a bit. Guesssing between .75- 1.5" sag If there overtightened, they can be hard on the idler bearings. Too much sag is a good way to spin out of a track

    wheel shakes after bumps?????

I had an L9000 do that to me a lifetime ago. It was a broken center bolt in the left spring. It had a 6v53 Jimmy, and leaked so much oil on the front end, no one noticed the axle sliding for & aft. Especially when I went over some rough railroad tracks or washboard.

    On board scales.

We installed an 'air weigh' scale on one of our KW T800's. Steering axle works off a load cell. Not terribly accurate. Needs to be recalibrated regularly. Not uncommon to read 1000 lb light. Rear scale plumbed into air suspension. Very common to be within 40lbs. If I slide my 5th wheel to...

    L8000 clutch pedal

Sorry to get this off track. I don't think the pedal height or where the clutch releases in the pedal travel is adjustable.

    L8000 clutch pedal

Willie, I know exactly how you feel. Worst experience I had: worked for a fertiilizer dealer for 5 seasons over 11 years. (Rural community, company had Ford automotive dealership, Ford/New Holland ag dealership, RV Dealership, and fertilizer plant). On one particular NH3 truck (an L9000) I...
