    Going to Conexpo?

Just saw they're shutting it down early. Since I paid for a ticket I'm no their group text.

    Going to Conexpo?

Had planned on going. Hotel prices crashed vs my early order pricing...which told me attendance could be limited. I was going to drive out, then decided to get stuff done here instead...which all went sideways as well. : (

    Auction equipment.................discuss.

I think there is more than enough opportunity for every auction company to be nefarious...even more so in the massive machine that is RB / Iron Planet. But given the number of uniformed buyers at most RB auctions the past few years...it's hard to know what's crazy and what's crooked.

    Auction equipment.................discuss.

They sell EVERYTHING. The standards are that it's equipment. Not that it's good equipment. Not that it's running equipment. Just that it's equipment.

    Part Time Business worth?

Depends how much you want to work. It sounds like fun, but when you're tired and crap is staking up, when you've got people calling / depending on you, when things are broken...it can turn real fast. Every 'easy money' job always turns into way more work than you expect.

    rb auction

In the US commercial buyers have very little recourse...they're expected to be business professionals who don't require or get the same considerations average consumers get. However, a professional evaluation by a dealer / professional shop / certified inspector is clearly a different story...

    rb auction

I'll agree they are few & far between. I'll also say there is no way to 100% know what a tractor is or isn't...if I could tell with 100% certainty I'd be much richer today. What I can tell you is who to trust & who not to trust...and who I don't know & none of my contacts know. Sales people...

    rb auction

My old boss did 40+ years in Heavy Equipment sales...he had two sayings... 1 - If you bought something of mine in an auction...you got F'd. 2 - The only value of an auction is never having to meet the guy you just F'd. RB does NOT protect you from bad tractors. None of them do. And I'd...

    rb auction

I talked to a guy in FL that buys a lot of European equipment. He told me most of it has many more hours on it than what they show. In Europe the operators are better quality & more careful / better trained than here...they take care of the equipment so the appearances line up with the hours...

Land clearing, to burn or not to burn

Good idea on the log! Sadly the TB180 Takeuchi I had didn't have a thumb at the time...of course I ended up having to put one on for the buyer. : ( But at the time I had a couple people wanting it...and half didn't want a thumb and I couldn't find a used one to steal. Would have made...

Land clearing, to burn or not to burn

My property is outside the city limits...and believe it or not, San Antonio has become complete jack asses about trees on commercial lots. They mark them & will fine or hold up development if you take down even the shittiest looking scrub brush. I plan on being a commercial property, and in...

Land clearing, to burn or not to burn

I bought 5 acres which was overgrown with crap trees. Did our first burn on Jan 1st...and meet the fire department. :) I had called...but some ass turned me in. https://photos.app.goo.gl/TrCzGjvivJGJTa8i8 - FD Pic https://photos.app.goo.gl/ksBwL8iM2LxYhR7c9 - Follow up video The...

Brush Guards / Radiator Protection for dozers

That's one thing it doesn't do well. The slats don't provide much visibility which is why I had them in tiers and lowered them on the sides. This was designed to go into a muni brush facility & protect the radiator as well as increase blade capacity. For a clearing application where it was...

    Case 1650L surprise!

Double the price of the parts. It's still going to save them $12k...absolute minimum $5000 right? I look at things this way...if your time, experience, and skills aren't worth anything...why aren't you working at WalMart?

Brush Guards / Radiator Protection for dozers

    Well, the silence is deafening.

Brush Guards / Radiator Protection for dozers

The design has many benefits... - It turns down any brush sending it downward away from your radiator...or it breaks it off. - It pushes into support, making it very strong and durable. - It's idiot proof to assemble and other than mounting to the blade, even tack welds will work. - It's very...

Brush Guards / Radiator Protection for dozers

How many people use them? I'm trying to gauge the market for a product that I've designed and built for a customer... I'd be interested in hearing if this is something you'd ever buy or want.

    rb auction

As a 'wholesaler' in the industry I can tell you that RB is pretty much retail right now unless you're talking dealerships with financing (they're getting better prices due to aggressive financing, RPO options, and extended warranties). For the love of Pete, look around for what you want to...

    Dozer verses Case quad trac

The tracks on the Case are rubber and use tension. I don't see it good for much dozing work other than leveling freshly laid, light material. If he's just looking for something to level out everything between passes...it'll probably work fine.

Road & Work Lights on 580K

We put LED's on all the farm tractors when I was still farming in Iowa with my brother. They held up fine. My dad told us it was a waste of money. Then he used one of them at night. "How much was it to put those on? Can we put them on my old tractor?" : )
