Pouring in new fluids, embarrassed to ask this...but the manual hasn't come yet. 580c

I'm pretty sure the fill on the right is steering fluid - but I guess someone probably told you that already. I seem to recall the oil fill being on the other side of the engine, about where you're pointing at.

    case 580

Yeah, maybe. LOL Good luck with that Case, you'll need it. Watch your knuckles.

    my nasty hoe

Looks more like a classy hoe to me. LOL In the immortal words of Ron Burgundy, "keep it classy out there". I use a leaf blower to clean my cabs out. Works great - but not on mud, of course.

    pond cleanout methods

Pushing mud below a dam would not fly here in California. Salmon lay eggs in streams and salmon are barely surviving compared to the good, old days. They'd fine you hefty for that technique. But I can see how it makes sense to cut open the dam. I hate pushing mud and I hate getting stuck even...

ASV RC100 will start but not function.

My machine's sitting idle for the same reason. Thanks a lot manufacturers for making our machines so safe that they don't work.

L170 new holland the hydraulic bucket lock will not unlock

Electronics. I'm beginning to wonder why they put it on heavy equipment. Manufacturers, KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid. Sorry, can't help you.

    Seat bar switch adjustment

Good luck, guys. The general dumbing down of society scares otherwise sensible people into being afraid to comment on anything that might be perceived as safety reducing. I'm the one who wants to disable the damned safety switches. It's a pretty simple request but no one answered. Over at my...

When did bobcat switch to the "upgraded" joysticks?

    None too soon, IMO.

2003 CAT 287B Interlock Control (help!)

I have a machine that starts but sometimes won't move - tracks or loader. After starting the machine I drop the lap bar then press the parking brake/interlock control button to disconnect the parking brake and activate the hydraulic controls - as you're supposed to do. Occasionally I get full...

Question on air conditioner service - CAT 426C

I put it all back together. I doubt it would cool at all now. BTW, in case anyone is curious, when you break the seal on the lines there is a pop, and then a hissing noise. Then the hissing turns to a yellowish foam coming out. Then more hissing...until nothing. The process took about ten...

Quick Question on replacing dipper hydraulic hose

Yep, every hose I've replaced only needed a few cycles of the cylinder to force the air out.

Question on air conditioner service - CAT 426C

I bought this backhoe two years ago knowing it had a slight overheating problem. It was getting worse so I figured I better clean the gap between the radiator and the air condo heat exchanger (or radiator - not sure what the proper term is - what is it, anyway?). Sure enough, the gap was filled...

    Bought a 2004 CAT 287B

^ That's what I did for the backup alarm - removed the nut and wire. The joystick works as you say. You have to think about the bucket direction. If I back up and think about machine direction I turn the wrong way. It doesn't seem right to me but I can see why CAT did it this way - not sure I...

Awesome. I love learning and I love people who teach AND know what they are talking about. I'm surprised the Pilots are not electronic because the touch is super light. Is the actuation of the valves hydraulically assisted or what?

    Please Respond Before Monday Morning

bold^ I totally agree. I would never own a skider without a root grapple. I've never tried a rock grapple so can't really comment on that but the way you can rake the ground with the root grapple is indispensable - and the ability to leave the dirty behind is big. For my 2 cents, if I could only...

I'm the only person at a remote ranch. I'm more concerned with noise pollution than I am safety, in this situation. How do I disconnect the backup alarm? The pilot controls are electronic, no? So what I'm looking at is just re-wiring the reverse positions?

Thanks for the replies. More questions: (5.) I want to disable the backup alarm but I gathered that the oil temp, hydraulic temp, maybe more, could use the backup alarm to signal when something is wrong. Do they all use the same alarm? Can I defeat the backup alarm while keeping the other alarms...

Question 3: How do you raise the cab for service? Does the little red rod at the back left of the cab have something to do with it? Question 4: What are the various electrical switches for up near the key and the fuel gauge? Left side: Right side:

1,600 hrs, $20,000. The price was low because the loader arms are tweaked. I have several questions for 'yall. Question 1: What do you think about re-tweaking the loader arms? They are shifted about 13/16" to the left. The have rubbed down negligible parts that they have been touching but they...
