This will be an interesting thread moving forward......

I’d given the benefit of the doubt to your new helper LMM.I’d allready figured he was a potential steady plodder at best, but that may have suited you Vtech. Clearly I was very wrong, that mess he left behind, especially when you asked him to clear it up,tells a much deeper story about the man,his...

    Cat D6C track problems

Oz Dozer, you are right about those track braces not being as tough as they look. I had one break on an early D8H 68a 7 roller frame.Wasn’t a big job to weld it though. All my later D8H’s has the thicker wishbones/diagonal braces and have no trouble. The big bushes at the back need looking...

Good morning Joe. If you are hell bent on a D6R XL,come and have a look at the one up in Skelm. It was a trade in but I knew its previous owner. I’ve no idea how much he wants for it,but it looks a deceant tractor for an end user the likes of yourself or me and would be priced accordingly

Purchasing first TLB and need advice

I’ve allways ran at least 2 big tractors for this reason. My D8 is currently out doing a few hours a month and my D9 is sat snoozing in the yard for a year as a back up. It is earning me nothing, but gives me a good nights sleep knowing it’s there:D

    parts availability for D6C

Beautiful looking machine. Be very hard to find a better one. Much of the expense is in the undercarriage, blade, winch and asthetic appearance. If it’s innards are as nice as it looks from the outside, it will be as good as it gets for a 45/50 year old machine.

Purchasing first TLB and need advice

My advise considering your location and population is to buy at least 2 older machines around 25 years old. You might get 3 for €100k. With 3 indentical machines, you’ll just about manage 100% availability and you can simply canibilise each one over the years until you end up with none. 2 or 3...
