    Aluminum frames

What's everyone's thoughts on cutting and extending aluminum frames. Some shops say yes, some no way, and the one I work with says not a problem, but ins concerned about the corrosion between steel and aluminum.

    Cat V8

I'm considering purchasing a 79 Pete 359 with a Cat V8. Other than sounding cool and making big power for their day, what else should I know about this unit? It has 750k and I have seen paperwork for its first rebuild around 350k.

    2005 Pete 379 project

Thanks! The PDI was done before I purchased it. The previous owner said the tune bumped it to 600hp, but more importantly "moved the power curve to where it was more driveable". Compared to my old single turbo it definately has a more consistent and smooth power delivery. I had the rebuild...

    2005 Pete 379 project

I bought this truck about a year ago and use it for hauling stone for my Company through New England. Truck was an Aroostook County Potato hauler with 900k and loaded with chrome on the inside, but the previous owner always sells before 1m. It's a 550/18sp with PDI tune, 275"wb. I added the...

    Pete exhaust questions

I just purchased a used 2005 379, 280"wb, 550 C-15, 18sp. It's currently getting the brakes overhauled and a CAT Platinum engine overhaul before being put into service. I bought it for personal company use and will likely put less than 50,000 miles a year on it. I basically wanted a show truck...

    What's this Pete worth?

2002, C15 500hp, 63" sleeper, 13speed. Pics in photobucket but can't get them to show here. Has 580k and I know its history from Day 1.

    Want to sell my 302.5

I have a 1999 Cat 302.5. 2200 hrs, open canopy, blade, aux. hydaulics. Just painted and serviced. Looking for any serious offers at market value. I'm tired of locals asking if I'll accept their offer, saying yes, then never hearing from them. Pics available to serious buyers. Matt

Looking for Hotshot or car hauler

Need a quote to move a car from Portland, Oregon to Bangor, Maine (or anywhere in the Northeast if it makes a significant price difference). Does not need to be an enclosed trailer. Car is a very low 1971 Porsche 911 so adequate load angle is necessary. PM or call Matt @ 207-745-1789. Thanks

Looking into reviving my 1 ton trucking business

"How I'am I suppose to live in a area when house prices are pushing 1/2 a million to 2 million dollars. When that happens the cost of living is sky rocketing to another planet it is happening all over B.C. Right now in B.C. the cost of living is so god d*mn high that 90% of your wages goes to...

what are your hobbies away from the dirt

Nac Who's your F1 driver? I am closer to Canadian GP, but never made it up. Did you go this year? Nice to see someone else who's not into the redneck round-and-round:) Matt

Why? We all know they aren't his pics; we just appreciate looking at them. I bet no one here cares where they came from.

who's making out better on this deal

Hypothetically speaking, who would you say is getting the better end of the stick; the buyer or seller? 1999 Cat 302.5 open canopy, orig. tracks, 24" bucket 2000hrs. 2003 Cat 277 orig. tracks, 2 sets of front idlers replaced, 1100hrs. Both have never had any major mechanicals, just...

Squizzy In the pic with the view, are you guys prepping a lawn or backfilling a wall? That is some awfully sandy stuff for a lawn..........:)

How well do these dig holes-footings/post holes etc..

Funny you should ask:) I just got in from digging 20 sonotube holes for a builder in 26 degree weather in an open cab 302.5. I have found that the augers do not work well. You need at least an 18" bit, and if it hits any nasty fill, forget about it. That being said, a mini works great for...

    air compressor brand info

I need to buy a new air compressor for my shop and have narrowed it down to a unit from either Atlas Copco or Denver-Gardner. Will be a screw type, 25hp ~110cfm. Looking at going with a variable speed unit also, but not sure if I will really benefit. Any feedback on these brands or on the...

    help with VIN decode

Hi I am considering a truck purchase site unseen. I don't know if the seller (a dealer) is entirely sure of the trucks exact model. Does anybody know how to decode Peterbilt numbers, or perhaps a website that can help? Our dealer is not very helpful (I'll leave it at that :) ) I know that...

    Cat 277 problem

Has anybody had to do any work on the undercarriage of their Cat track loader yet? I have what appears to be a collapsed bearing/failed seal on the front idler that is leaking fluid quite badly. While this system is similar to the design on my ASV 4810, it does differ in a few aspects I see...

    New trailer info

We are replacing the 6 ton deckover we have with something capable of carrying both our Cat 277 and 302.5 at the same time. I'm looking at both a 9 and 10 ton unit. There seems to be a large price jump from 9-10, the only difference being 102 vs 96 width and heavier axles. Both have a 19'...

    New Trailer

Steve How did you get that Northern Bay anyway? Until they went out of business they were made about 45 min away from me. Best dump trailer I ever had. Matt
