John Deere 50 or 60-G, general thoughts and stereo install

I didn't realize anyone was making diesel engines this size without turbos. I have mixed feelings on having a turbo. On one hand it's nice to not ever have to replace & engine cool down time becomes less important. But one thing to consider if you may find yourself working at high elevations the...

Where are all the yanmar people?

I have a vio-55 yanmar. So far so good, has almost 1400 hours now & not a single problem.

    Making Profits Mini Excavator.

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't consider buying anything smaller than a 35 class machine. The only way I would think about smaller is if I had a line on real specific work where a larger machine simply would not fit. For my operation even a 35 is too small 90% of the time. Personally in...

    WTB spider excavator

Nice unit. But yes smaller than what I'm looking for.

    WTB spider excavator

Looking to purchase a walking excavator. Looking for one of the bigger units 10+ tons. Open to all manufacturers. Closer to the west coast the better. I haven't had much luck finding many listed for sale in the US. Thanks

    Yanmar Vio55-5 reviews anyone?

I'm no help, I have not changed any filters yet. My dealer claims the factory filters & fluids are competitively priced.

    Yanmar Vio55-5 reviews anyone?

I'm just the dirt contractor, I can't take credit for the foundation work.

    Yanmar Vio55-5 reviews anyone?

Looks like a twin to mine. I'm not sure how much luck you will have with a 4' bucket. Mine handles the 3' bucket good as far as not feeling tippy reaching out with a full bucket, but it struggles digging in hard ground with the 3' bucket. We'll see if that changes when I get the new rock teeth...

    Yanmar Vio55-5 reviews anyone?

I purchased one just a few months ago. I've put about 150 hours on it and so far so good. Very impressive on digging and lifting power. My only complaint is the Tag thumb the dealer installed, hard to blame that on the machine. No one else even come close on the price and financing.

    Waker Neuson st45

I had a ST31 on a demo and then rent for a couple months. Overall seemed like a pretty good machine. This particular unit had a rocker switch to switch between H pattern and ISO. My biggest complaint is the seat belt instead of the pull down bar in most skids. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't...

    Air Filter Cleaning

As usual I'll be the odd man out....... I clean out outer filters and replace inner filters. Its common practice here for fire dozers to blow out the filters and radiators with a leaf blower or compressor after every shift. Running in dusty top soil with no water 95% of the time I can't...

    Residential estimating

More often than not when I get a homeowner that wants price on a project like this they have absolutely no clue what it will cost to do. They think "I should be able to fill that hole for a few thousand dollars" So my advice is to do some very ruff estimating on the spot before you get too...

Do Not Buy A Gatormade Trailer... W/ PICS

Thanks for the tip. I will more than likely end up with something used because I'm cheap! Since nothing is made on this side of the country it will come down to whatever I can find a good deal on.

Do Not Buy A Gatormade Trailer... W/ PICS

You can throw me on that boat. I'm currently in the process of shopping for a gooseneck and will be crossing gatormade off my list. Not because of your issues with the product (s*** happens) but because of there response to the problems.

Do Not Buy A Gatormade Trailer... W/ PICS

:exactly and it's semi common for people to have no clue what a piece of equipment weighs, so when you said 12k dozer I half expected a 18k-20k crawler up on the deck. I'm pretty surprised and disappointed with Gatormade's response. IMO from a business owners prospective when you have a...

Do Not Buy A Gatormade Trailer... W/ PICS

I understand all the manufactures rate them a little different, but it seems most of them are around 25% tongue weight. Some are much less than that. Have you had this setup on the scales?

Do Not Buy A Gatormade Trailer... W/ PICS

Doesn't the trailer weigh 6-7k? Pretty sure they don't put a 26k+ GVW on the trailers with 10k axles. So no its not rated for a 20k load. What model dozer are you hauling?

Do Not Buy A Gatormade Trailer... W/ PICS

Good info here. Out of curiosity what size dozer are you hauling on this trailer? I'm guessing the trailer has 10k axles under it?

Broken leaf spring and crash course in driving a big truck?

Sometimes I will clutch to pull it out of gear for a downshift if it doesn't want to easily slide out of gear. That's just how I do it.... But I don't claim to be a truck driver:D

    What difference does it make?

JCB claims they came out with the first backhoe loader in 1952. I dig 10'+ with a backhoe often. Just last week I punched a few profile holes for a soil engineer that were ~13'.
