    3066 cat

Can't get a new engine from Cat??? Is this a gray market machine? EPA certified versions of the 3066, 320B has been sold into US. As I recall, the certified and the non-certified versions weren't very different on the outside. Maybe different pistons bowl geometry and injectors and...

    D6g

They don't, Japan (MOC) has nearly identical emissions level requirements as the EPA and EU. Just because it is built there, doesn't mean it is sold there. There are a lot of machines built in the US plants which are for export only because of emissions regs.

I don't think the truck plant is anywhere near you. The main truck plant in the UK is in Peterlee, way up on the north side of the island. Google map for peterlee, uk, caterpillar. You can see the vehicles in the yard.

    new cat 336d

Besides the model improvements, this is one of the reasons why it was changed to 336. The 330 was already a 336 size class machine. They are trying to re-align the numbers to be more accurate.

    Hydrogen as a Fuel

Exactly, hydrogen is not a fuel, its a storage medium. If we want to use NG or Coal as our fuel then why not just use it as Gas To Liquids or Coal To Liquids. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_to_liquids That way we don't have to pay for a huge infrastructure change to cryogenically store...

    Biofuels

From the literature research I've done, I also don't think it will be ethanol. One of our better options is to use GTL (gas-to-liquids) and CTL (coal-to-liquids) (old) technology. Also the US and China has enough coal for hundreds of years, which is a big economic and political bonus. GTL and...

    mitsubishi dozer

Thats not accurate. The D3G-D5G tractors are built in a SCM facility in Japan. SCM was a 50/50 partnership between Cat and MHI. Cat is the process of buying out majority ownership in SCM. But the dozer design, as far as I know, was Cat work. In fact, the latest generation of these machines...

    Kopy Kat Cat

See my post in the excavator forum. https://www.heavyequipmentforums.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=2045&page=5 It sounds like you bought a SCM machine. Although you can't be sure without checking the serial with a Cat dealer.

Which excavators are made by the same people??

Cat and Mitsubishi Let me clarify some incorrect info on this thread about Cat and Mitsubishi. Cat does not own any portion of Mitsubishi (and vice versa). Many years ago Cat and MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) became involved with each other. At the time, Japan was a closed country...

    Link Belts: Good/Bad?

The 320C and the early 320Ds used the mechanical 3066 engine. The new 320Ds use the C6.4 with Cat's ACERT technology for tier 3 emissions. The fuel economy is supposed to have improved significantly. Anybody have experience with these new ones?

    Troubles w/ our 312B

The machines originally sold into the EU used the 3054, the machines sold into North America used the 3064. The only thing these engines share are that they are both 4-cyl turbo diesels.
