    Trench compaction

I am late getting here, but my question is. How deep can one safely work a jumping jack in a trench. From what I understand anything deeper then 4' needs to be cut back. If I am compacting a 5'x16" trench in 12"-16" lifts that puts me around 4' feet for the first lift? Is this still...

Is anyone using moles in this day and age?

I rented a mole the other day, to push a water line under 32' of county rd, and 15' feet under a fiber optic. We got the job done, but the mole took a dive and was about 3' deeper then what we where shooting for. Which added 3 hours to the job. This was my own personal project so the $450...

    service interval template

I am going to have to play with it some more, I have been working on something similar. I would like to have all the equipment in one spread sheet though instead of having one spread sheet for every machine.

Driving fence posts with a mini?

That is something I had also considered. With a mini you could use the front blade to level yourself to some degree, but yea I see the problem with every time you move the boom. I wonder though with a plate maybe you would not have to keep it lined up perfectly?

Driving fence posts with a mini?

I am only interested in doing stock fences for ranchers and such. I have been fixing fence since I was a little kid, and build miles and miles of new fence. I am sure I could make some improvements on my system, but I would say that I can build fence about as fast anyone. My current setup is...

Driving fence posts with a mini?

Oxbow that is just the kind of info I was looking for. I need to be able to drive a 6" wood post. The length that I would be capable of driving is also a concern. Which had me leaning towards hoe pac. I have watched all the videos on YouTube, and in everyone of them the grass is green and it...

Driving fence posts with a mini?

I am looking to expand my operation into contract fencing. I am wondering if anyone has seen a mini drive fence posts. I do not own the machine yet but I am looking at a ~8000 lb machine. Either using a plate compactor with a flange welded to the bottom or a breaker. The plate compactor is...

    Cat 950 Fuel System

Well I called cat and it was $670 for a new pump plus another $50 next day air freight. Or $48 dollars to replace all the seals, which they had on stock. So that is what I did, when I got into it the first seal coming out of it more less did not exist, there was only a tiny shred of it left to...

    Cat 950 Fuel System

It is starting to make an awful lot of sense now. I think I will just call the dealer tomorrow and order a transfer pump. I will update this after the new pump is in. Thanks for the advise. Will

    Cat 950 Fuel System

That is making a little more sense now. I had the transfer pump off it, it did not look bad other then some slight wear on the gear. How would one tell if it is bad? It is worth noting that the line I am talking about is not on the transfer pump though, it is on the main housing. Will

    Cat 950 Fuel System

I don't think so I covered this thing from one end to the other looking for the other half and have not found it. It either broke and is missing a significant length of fuel line or it does something different. I plugged of the line with a bolt and hose clamp and it seems to run fine after I...

    Cat 950 Fuel System

I have an Cat 950 loader 81j series that had developed a hard starting problem. This has been an issue for me in the past and it has always been fuel lines leaking air. 30+ year old fuel lines tend to be on the brittle side. It was due for a service anyhow yesterday so I ran it into the shop...
