    Bobcat 15C Auger

A couple of things on the auger itself. If the starter point is worn down, it doesn't make enough of a pilot hole to positively locate the auger prior to the digging teeth hitting the ground. Also, with a larger auger in tough soil, level the drill site so the auger teeth don't just hit a high spot.

    Making skidsteer implements

I was not familiar with the rezloh edge, but after looking at them on the web, they look like a good thing. There were some prices when you looked up edges for specific make of sst's. It may justify if you need a toothed edge, but they are a significant premium over a standard straight edge. It...

    Making skidsteer implements

I believe that. Just about to make a grapple for my Gehl 7810. Decided to use 4 - 36" pallet forks for the bottom and build the grapple. Seems I have lots of trees to move due to the Emerald Ash Bore in this area. I still like my old stick welder for the heavy stuff. With 2 loader tractors and...

    Michelin Tweel

According to the website, only 1 size is available. I don't know if the website has not been updated, or that is still the case. My Michelin dealer does not seem to have any knowledge of Tweels. Do you know if there are other sizes available yet? I would be looking for 14 x 17.5.

    Making skidsteer implements

Agreed, Monte1255. I tack the ends with about a 1" stitch then work from the middle going both ways. The end tacks will crack and grind out and repair as you get to them. Avoid too much weld in any one area so it doesn't overheat. I find that about 4" stitches every 12" and opposing each stitch...

    Michelin Tweel

They do look cool. Does the rubber seem much harder than a pneumatic tire? I have high hopes for their performance and will look forward to future posts.

Regarding the tooth bar - bear in mind that welding to hardened alloys such as AR 400 will change the hardness. The more welding the less hardness. Also, depending on thickness, the cross section of AR 400 changes in hardness. I would suggest welding the teeth or tooth attachments to a mild...

First Post..Is the 17.2 GPM enough and what do you think of my choices! Going crazy!!

The difference between a bucket of dirt and a round bale is where the center of gravity is. The round bale C of G will be about 2-1/2' to 3' from the attachment point and the bucket C of G is about 15" out. A large round bale requires a higher lift capacity, not for the hyraulics, but for wheel...

    snow blower attachment

One more thing to check. The blower itself. If the clearance between the fan and the fan housing is too great, snow will drag and use unusually high torque to drive the fan. Since this is a new blower, it should not be an issue, but worth a check. There should be no more than 1/8" to 3/16"...

    buying advice needed

You need to start with the basics. New or used. If used, machine, condition and any mechanical history along with service records are greatly helpful. Also, beware of new paint. A CIL overhaul can cover a lot of sins underneath. Last but not least, consider dealer support. The best machine is...

Tracked Drill Unit, Sort of a Big Skid Steer

By the looks of the tracks in the snow, someone has been playing. I like the design. Reminds me of my old Bombardier SW 48, but bigger. If it works anything like it, it will climb a glass mountain and ease down the other side. Good luck and I hope there are no gremlins to sort out.

    loading in wet area

So far, minimal ill effects on the tires. I have 14 X 17.5 tires on a Gehl 7810 and only run chains on the engine end which gives me adequate traction for pushing an 8' x 30" high snow blade. Before I installed chains, one side of the blade would get heavy and pull the skid steer around. Now, no...

Tracked Drill Unit, Sort of a Big Skid Steer

Awsome looking instrument panel. I would like to see a video of the machine in action.

    loading in wet area

I have used tire chains on my skid steer. Relatively cheap and provide more than adequate traction. I have one skid steer with rubber over the tire tracks and the other one with chains in winter. Agreed, tracks work great until they spin once then ineffective. The chains have worked well on...

    Daves latest thread!!

All I can say is I'm glad its not my skidsteer in the video. Michelin makes premium products for a premium market. Not every skid steer is going to benefit from the technology, but if you have an application that justifies a premium product, it is an investment, not an expense. My old Gehl...

Building a 48" clean up bucket

Obviously not your first shop project. Looks good. If the T1 wears out, you might consider replacing it with something like AR 400 wihch is an abrasion resistant 400 Brinell hardness steel. Hard enough to wear, but not so brittle that it cracks.

Gehl Skid Steer Unsure of Model

I just realized I had a typo. My example of roller chain says #60 is 5/8" pitch. That is incorrect, #60 chain is 3/4" pitch. My example is for # 50 chain which is 5/8" pitch.

Gehl Skid Steer Unsure of Model

Roller chains stretch and then do not mesh properly with the sprocket. For example, a #60 chain has a pitch (center of pin to center of pin) of 5/8". Industry standard recommends that the chain be replaced at 3% stretch. Therefore if you measure 10 links, new it should measure 6-1/4". 3% stretch...
