Mini to haul in dump trailer

I had a dump trailer, but eventually bailed on it because it was a pain loading/unloading my Bobcat 331. A dump trailer sits high (and it was heavy), and being unable to swing around in box (walls too high), forced me to back off down steep tracks. Not exactly a comforting feeling. Also, I...

    Bobcat e26 oil leaks

Yeah, looking at pics of it on Ebay, the JIC end does not need an O-ring. The other end looks like a straight thread O-ring Boss. I missed you noting the JIC has an O-ring... Guess Ebay listing has it wrong.

    Bobcat e26 oil leaks

Are you sure there is supposed to be an O-ring on JIC fitting? If it keeps blowing, with correct torque, you either have an over pressure situation, or there isn't supposed to be an O-ring. I suppose there could be a defect with fitting not being true...suspect you'd see that. As I google the...

Random loss of 2 speed Bobcat e32

I suspect they've changed a few things since mine was built, but I would lose high speed after a thorough wash. It seems when I sprayed water on electrical connections for high speed solenoids in hydraulic compartment they would 'short' out. After they dried out, I would get high speed back...

    ? About hydraulics

All of the bearings on from bucket right to house. Having replaced half of mine, one can tell how tight they are on mini. It is an issue around here, given we are playing in rock. Can also tell if machine had a breaker on it (kills bearings). Aside: got to chatting with a life long excavator...

Bobcat 331 - Control panel glow plug light not working or countdown timer

Update: wouldn't you know, I got 'lucky'. First time Bobby had failed to light glow plugs because ambient temps were high. Never gotten so hot before. And it happened while I was cranking on a dead battery, which blew a relay. We got some overnight rain (cooler temps), and voila, the glow plug...

    ? About hydraulics

You are talking about turning the whole machine at a stop (not the house)? With steel tracks, that is not advisable. Your putting undue torque on rollers. I have rubber tracks, and can turn on a dime, but do so only on slippery surfaces, like snow or wet grass (if your ok with chewing up grass)...

Bobcat 331 - Control panel glow plug light not working or countdown timer

Sounds like a plan. Thx. The glow plugs did cycle a few times when trying to start the thing. I put in new relays, all around. No power to glow plug circuit when starting.

Bobcat 331 - Control panel glow plug light not working or countdown timer

The relays all have the same code...appear to be standard relays. Schematics indicate they are. I started ripping things apart this evening. Can't see anything that would take out the glow plug circuit. Perhaps I fried the hot lead to glow plugs. A mystery. I need to pull out fuse/relay box and...

Bobcat 331 - Control panel glow plug light not working or countdown timer

My battery was toast, so I try to jump start it with car...failed. While repeatedly trying to start it, the glow plug countdown timer stopped working. Off to store I go, and install a new battery. All I get is a hard click (magnetic switch at starter?). Won't start. Off to store I go, and...

in search of a used mini

With Billrog on flat deck. That is how I got mine...find someone in your hood with a flatdeck/hiab and ride along with them to get it. I'll admit I got a good deal (had to get mine shipped from lower mainland to coast) in terms of shipping (Ferry was $225 or so). Hard to find good deals out in...

    Building a custom excavator

Definitely the money shot! The other pic, on page 2...;) Of course, I am trying to figure out where you are...in snow. Not in my hood, unless your up on the backside of Caren Range, but you look to be on a plateau. Sort of reminds me of the 'coke'. I think you said VI somewhere. I haven't...

    Building a custom excavator

Good to know! Thx. My machine has a virtually identical engine, in terms of specs (2.2l Kubota 40hp). I have toyed with adjusting pressures, but to just within specs (solved a thumb overpowering bucket issue).

    Building a custom excavator

Unbelievable amount of work that must have taken. And the results! Incredible. That is a beast. Haha, I do slight mods to mine, but you've made a transformer. Really like how you beefed up known weak spots, using large pins, and not using tin. ;) And lights! Really something. Would love to see...

Cat 304 Pins and Bushing Purchase

No idea what the bushings are made of...definitely a alloy that can withstand some punishment. I heard of folks getting machinists to make pins (way easier to make), but bushings are another animal. As I noted on previous page, a light MIG weld in three spots was a game changer for me. The one...

    Bobcat or CAT

I agree with all of the above. Dealer support is #1 consideration....buying new, one wants quick service under warranty. In older machines, like mine, I want dealer parts pronto, and reasonably priced. I've actually bypassed a closer dealer because the farther one is cheaper, and they ship it...

Cat 304 Pins and Bushing Purchase

Freezer worked well for me. Why change things... I've never heard of the torch method, other than to heat them up (hot spot), but to 'notch' them sounds dangerous. MIG route worked like a charm for me. Just a tiny bead in three places...it also gave a raised edge so that I could use old pins...
