Help with replacing slack adjusters on a Deere 550B

1980's John Deere 550B dozer. I'm replacing the slack adjusters. I got this far without issue. Any idea how to remove the old tubes so I can put the new ones in place? Are they a press fit? Weld on some chain and pull? Any help is appreciated.

My first track loader. Allis Chalmers HD5G.

After many years of salivating over these machines I came across one that is seemingly in pretty good shape and was in my price range. I looked at it way back when over Fathers Day weekend and hauled her home last week finally, a 850 mile round trip between South Jersey and upstate NY...

    HD5G, looking for some insight.

So temptation got the best of me and I went to look at this yesterday. Started right up cold, hardly any smoke, 2-71 runs like a clock. Undercarriage seems tight, crawls very quietly and smooth. Needs bucket pivot pins and bushings rebuilt and there is a lot of slop in the gear shifter. I have...

1985 JD 210C, cost of hydraulic pump?

What backhoe attachment will best fit on my 545D? Any Ford/NH gurus out there?

I have recently bought a 2000 New Holland 545D which I am very pleased with. I want to get a backhoe attachment for it, preferably a Ford unit as they seem to have about twice the power of the after market units. I really do not have any concrete information as to which backhoe would fit best. I...

To buy or not to buy an Allis Chalmer HD5G

This machine is really tempting me. http://southjersey.craig 4 slist.org/grd/441837387.html I recently bought a 2000 New Holland 545D 4x4. My gut tells me to simply put my time and effort into this machine, fix PTO, replace a few lines for the Gannon box, and foremost find a way to adapt a...

Looking for info on the Ford/New Holland industrial tractors, (skip loaders.)

I hope this is in the proper category. I am in the market for an industrial tractor between $10,000 and $12,500. It seems that the Ford/New Holland tractors are the only ones that I can find in this price range. Oh yeah, 4wd is a must. My primary use will be brush hogging, york raking and front...

Selling a Chevy to buy an International

I have had this Chevy dump for 8 or 9 years now and I am itching for something differrent. The 8.2 Detroit has been stone reliable but its just lacking power. I am also on the fence as to how the 22,000lb Chevy will handle a 10 ton tag with an 18,000lb piece of equipment on it. I am thinking...

12 ton; beaver tail vs tilt deck and multi max vs dually axles

I'm looking for a trailer to tow my 18,000lb loader. I will also be moving long sections of tree trunks and who knows what else. I really want something that's a good multi purpose trailer. Can anybody tell me the pros and cons of a tilt deck vs a traditional beaver tail trailer would be. I...

My Trojan 114 tractor shovel thread.

I have recently acquired a Trojan 114 wheel loader and have been working on getting it operational. The previous owner was going to scrap it because it won't reach his tall dump body. I got to spend a couple of afternoons on it so far, checked all of the fluids, put fresh batteries in it, tried...

Looking to upgrade my dump truck, school me a little on this.....

I have been running an '87 C70 Chevy for about 6 years now. Spec'ed with the 8.2 Detroit fuel pincher, 5 speed/2sp rear, governed at 62mph, hydroboost brakes, 22,000GVW, 10' mason dump that's been welded up and has home made sides to offer more cubic capacity. The truck has 105,000 miles on it...

    Gooseidi, Hello from South Jersey

I have posted a breif intro in one of the threads at the top of this section but if it allows me to do so here, lets do it. I have drooled over machinary since I was a little boy, the stereotypical 5 year old boy sitting on his Daddy's lap as he drove an old track loader around to clear land for...
