    Excavator for Forestry Mulching

Not an expert; I have a Wacker Neuson ET-90 (9 ton) excavator, as well as digging chores I run an FAE mulcher, model BL30 so its a 30" mulcher. I would not classify this combination as suitable for production, but more than adequate for clearing brush, grinding stumps, taking down 4-5" trees...

    This doesn't look good..

I have a Kubota diesel in a skid steer I use on the farm that has the same or similar starter issues as you describe. A friend who knows Kubota well was telling me about the unique solenoid setups on those starters, there is an internal copper (moving) part that gets corroded from use and does...

    Forestry Mulcher

I bought an FAE for my 9 ton excavator, model BL-1-EX, lighter weight, 30" cut, designed for 4 to 7.5 ton excavators. I opted for this smaller one because of it's lighter weight, and I was not disappointed, it works really well. One bit of advice; check your machines auxiliary oil flow (gpm)...

Looking for weld on ears for a bucket to mount to QD excavator coupler

I to am looking to build some 'ears' to make a coupler for a new mulcher we want to buy for the excavator. Have not been able to find any here in Canada so decided to make them. 3/4" mild steel plate, with bushings and pins out of some harder material if I can find it.

Off road diesel - $1.79 today

Not as low a price for us as in Texas, but still pretty good; Fuel delivery to the farm last week, 545 litres of dyed seasonal diesel .87 per litre They messed up our instructions and only filled the one tank, came back this week to fill the second one 648 litres @.91 I normally have one tank...

    RUT Mulcher for mini/midi excavator

Hey there, I am looking for the right mulching attachment to suit my Wacker Neuson ET-90 I'm finding that many of the brands available are heavier than I would like, and some require higher hydraulic flow than my machine puts out on auxiliary (24.3 gpm) I will have that flow tested & confirmed...

    8 ton excavator

Well, pulled the trigger; made the deal on a new 9 ton Wacker Neuson. They delivered it on Wednesday, and took my 420D back with them, Sad to see it go, it was a great machine, but looking forward to bigger and better things (I hope!) with the ET-90. Been practicing: digging out snow banks and...

    8 ton excavator

Update: We made a deal on the W/N 9 ton, in the end, the dealer and distributor managed to get the price almost 3 grand below that of the Kubota, including a slightly better offer on our 420D trade. It should be here in the next couple of weeks. Now we are looking for a mulcher, hope to get one...

    8 ton excavator

We are in Canada, so not sure the comparison would be accurate due to the exchange rate Here the Cat is 149K for cash

    8 ton excavator

Edit on the price difference; It was actually more like 38 grand, not 40. I called the Kubota salesman today to ask him to double check the cost of adding a hydraulic pin grabber, because the Cat & the W/N have them as standard. Last week he ball parked it at 2 grand, this week it became just...

    8 ton excavator

Well I test 'drove' the Kubota KX-080 and a Cat 308e. Kubota is a nice machine, I like it, but I'm a bigger guy, and find the cab just a bit tight, wondering where my lunch bag would go! The boom swing is controlled by a metal foot operated rocker which you have to flip up the plastic dead...

    8 ton excavator

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. The dealer is a relatively new rental outfit, they tell me that they are stocking common parts, otherwise parts come out of Calgary Alberta, overnight. The Cat guys are now offering me financing (0% X 48 months) to match Kubota & Wacker Neuson. Does anybody...

    8 ton excavator

Hey guys, looking for your opinions; Planning on buying a new 8 tonne excavator, either dealer will take our 420D backhoe in on trade, and give a great trade value for it, plus 0% financing. We have narrowed it down to either a Kubota KX080-4, or a Wacker Neuson ET-90 (9 tonne) Still looking at...

    New to Heavy Machinery

We fence two ways, auger holes for large corner & gate posts, and pound posts, both methods with our small (an old Thomas T133) skid steer. Hands down the best and quickest method is pounding the posts. We use pressure treated, sharpened posts, no predrilling. They drive in three feet deep...

    308D any good?

Thanks for the replies, I value your opinions. The main thing bugging me is the travel, as most of you suggest. It is so easy and fast to go those distances with a backhoe. One thing that a midi excavator would be good for is to run a forestry mulcher. I have been getting by with a good heavy 3...

    308D any good?

    1) I discovered it is not at the local dealer, it is 500 miles away, I have only pictures but from what they show it looks not bad, the sprockets appear to be in good shape, the idlers are at about mid adjustment (I think) and the rubber on steel tracks are in decent shape. Cannot see any leaks...

    308D any good?

Hey guys, looking for opinions here. We have a good low hour backhoe (2004 Cat 420D, 1,500 hrs.) here on the farm, but I have been thinking about trading it for a 'midi' excavator. Found a 2012 Cat 308D-CR at the local Cat dealer, it has 5,227 hours on it, has approximately the same...
