I was inspected at the Echo, UT POE on the 19th of November...got a sticker for the truck but not for the trailer (the ABS light was inop) on the 30th of November in Gillette, WY at the POE, a WDOT insp inspected me AGAIN, despite my arguments against it..and I got a sticker for the...

    Need advice on 1st backhoe

I would reccommend looking at an auction house, or a rental yard that has a used BH for sale...as for which one and how much...too many variables...but, since it's going to be your first one..get something simple, reliable, not too new (fewer electronic malfunctions)and an ENCLOSED CAB!!!

    Some 13 speed questions.

you don't split a 15 speed like you do a 13 or an 18. 15 speeds are just 10 speeds with a deep reduction aux bolted on the back...they serve their purpose for only a few selected applications..usually getting a BIG heavy load started... as for Jakes on Cat's..you will find..that they hold back...

    Auxiliary Transmission

2 spd its possible, that you can search around the wrecking yards, and find both of the ends of your main trans and the aux to marry them together, and then you will only have to shorten your driveline, which you are probably going to have to do, regardless of what path you choose. or... you...

    Fuel transfer tank question

you are going to wish you would have spent the extra dollars and got the electric pump....if I were using that set up, I think I would build some sort of cage (expanded metal) and surround the filter...sooner or later..something steel is going to come in contact with it........just my opinion..

    Shifter mounted switch box:

driving a new freightliner cascadia..lots of driver functions located right on the steering wheel...some good, some not so good..I frequently hit the C/C on off switch with my left hand, and kill the C/C...trailer marker light interrupt and jake brake master switch located on right side of...

    Cool video on You Tube

I read about that operation in a recent "Loggers World" magazine...seems as though they were able to "fly" in the cats..and get the job done and save $60 mbdft over helicopter logging....what a deal!

Looking For An Old 5&4 With A Detroit

Joe Dirt...did you have any luck yet? there is an equipment guy here in town that had (has) a 60's era pete with a 5&4 and I'm thinking a 335, I drove it one summer cause nodboyd else knew how. Also, I think if you were to contact some of the logging outfits in southern oregon, popular gear set...

Double Clutch Down Shifting CDL Test

Or, try this...only use the clutch to take it OUT of gear, slide it into neutral, and then slightly apply some pressure to the throttle to raise the RPM's, then slide it into the next gear, don't force the shifter, just let it float, you'll get a feel for it, and you'll get a lot smoother...

    Truck Protest in DC

For those that think that impeding traffic, blocking intersections etc. is going overboard, and that the trucks should be impounded or towed...might I remind you, that this Country, which is overflowing with taxation, was created to stop unfair taxation. I guess it's a good thing that the...

If they REALLY wanted to be effective. They should all park their trucks, in the middle of the raod, get out, lock the doors...and walk away....go home and go fishing...

    Bees?

i was running an older D8K a couple of years back, pushing brush and small trees. of course it was in the heat of the summer, so all the meatbees were active. You couldn't help but open up a nest several times a day. We reversed the engine fan, so at least the airflow wasn't throwing them right...

    Truck Protest in DC

If you DON'T protest, you'll never have your voices heard...Sooner or later, you won't see any trucks on the highway. Better prepare your backyard garden beds now..

    Cabover Tractors?

Also, when or IF you are in a "head-on" accident, you are the first one there..safety is an issue...I'll post a picture of a '66 freighliner with the sleeper berth mounted ABOVE the drivers compartment.

    How are truck-tractors' GVWR calculated?

There seems to be some confustion here. Often times, the rating of the REAR axles ie; 44k, 56k, 38k etc. has NOTHING to do with the GVWR of the vehicle. These numbers are assigned by the manufacturer of the rear ends, NOT the vehicle manufacturer. The higher the number, the sronger the...

    Pulling logs.

the underlying story here When I read your post, something caught my eye, and I thought it only right to speak up. You said "...and start my credit anyways"..do me a favor YoungOne.. Listen to a guy on the radio, his name is Dave Ramsey, and then perhaps you might rethink that attitude..

    Pending Economy

Nobody ever accomplished anything by NOT taking chances, However, speaking from experience (trust me on this), operating with a LOC as a back up, is not a good plan. I did the same thing, and now find myself "making payments" on a LOC to make up for a sluggish economy. Certainly not the BEST...
