    LeTourneau Tear Down

Actually its not that bad. There is an access cover in the middle of the axle tubes & the brakes can be serviced thru there. The mechanical brakes are hardly ever used if ever in fact. These loaders use the electric resistors to stop the loader in normal operation & work well. When we were...

    Oops...

I'm no truck expert but that's a crappy design for a tow point. The ring loop is roughly a foot below the frame rail. That equals a huge amount of leverage on the spring hanger. The pull needs to be in a straight line with the frame rail, The engineers must have been able to have seen this one...

    Cat- LeTourneau Westinghouse scraper- dozer

RZ your right that the 290 Michigan scraper is mostly 280 dozer parts. But remember, the 280 is mostly made of from the 275 Loader which there is FAR more of around. Oldseabee on here has said that the one main difference is that the loader only had a 4 speed transmission where the others had an...

Allis Chalmers H3 dozer oil leak

Scott I also should say if there's not alot of oil in there I would just keep running it, just drain it out. You just dont know the last time the drain plugs were removed so it could be oil that has accumulated over the course of 20+ years! I should have just left mine as I found maybe 1/2 qt...

Allis Chalmers H3 dozer oil leak

Scott I have a H-3 as well. The final drive housing has NO drain plug in it. To drain the oil out of it you must drop the pan (item 31, on page 164 of your manual). As Scrub Puller has said inboard a bit is the steering/brake housing which DOES have a large drain plug so you must be talking...
