Help with 2010 F450 Towing Capacity, Or, Should I buy this truck?

The USDOT changed their rule in 2014 to determine GCWR as the sum of the truck and trailer GVWR, as read on the safety stickers, or the actual weight, whichever is greater. See section V of this document https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2014-03-19/pdf/2014-05502.pdf

    New purchase - T190,T300 or A300

Some of those tasks say Kubota R520 to me. You may have to go a little older than 08 but they should give you a long service life. You will like it better than a skid when it comes to frequent entry and exit of the machine.

    Micro motor grader (not mini...)

How about putting bigger tires on the back, keeping the motor on the front and stretching the frame to put the blade under the motor. I am thinking of something like the old Farmall or AC patrol graders or more recently a Huber.

    Chev 5500 4x4

First, I may be wrong, but I thought that GM was continuing the 4500 models, though maybe not the 5500's. As far as parts, I would not be too concerned. I don't think there is anything too unique about the drivetrain. The cab is based of GM vans so those parts should stick around for a while...

    DOT INSPECTIONS - insane

Onewelder, You are correct that you register the truck for weight and not the trailer in PA. So when registering a truck in PA you want to register it at your GCWR, not your GVWR if you plan on pulling a trailer. All the registration cost is in the truck - you can register a trailer...

    Oliver, the other green tractor!

As far as Oliver history goes, White actually purchased Oliver in 1960, although the White name didn't appear on the Olivers until later in the 55 series. Cockshutt was purchased in 1962 and Moline in 1963, although the consolidation into White Farm Equipment didn't occur until 1969. White...

    (PA) Tri-axle dump truck question

Obviously, I'm no expert on the subject, but looking over axle weight limitations got me thinking. I usually see tri-axles in PA set up with 18-20k fronts, 44-46k rears, and an 18k pusher, often with singles instead of duals. I know the max GVWR is 73,280 lbs, but this is what I don't get -...

    PA trailering questions

Everybody, thanks for the help so far. Some creative searching has answered a few of these questions so far in case anyone wanted to know. BTW, this is for a pickup and 14k gooseneck setup. As far as the GCWR vs GVWR and axle debate, this is still where I'm most confused. Some say as long...

    PA trailering questions

I'm having a little trouble getting my facts straight in setting up a trailer. The DMV knows less than I do and my local title guy won't spend more than 30 seconds on the phone with me, so I'm hoping someone here might have some insight on this. First, in PA is it true that you do not need to...

How to tear up a TLB

X2 on slamming the loader into piles. I don't know how many times I watched someone slam a loader or skid steer into a pile and spin the wheels trying to get a full bucket. I always hit a pile slower and curl the bucket as you hit some resistance, almost pulling you into the pile.

    europian pavers

Nice pics, Stevin. Since you seem to be our resident expert on European pavers, can you tell us some of the differences between European pavers and their American counterparts? It seems that some of the machines across the pond are a lot bigger. The biggest ABG can go wider than 50 ft while...

    europian pavers

I know a few answered parts of the question already, but as I understand it shuttle buggies remix asphalt in addition to keeping a constant stream of movement. The remixing eliminates the cool parts of the truckload and gets a more consistent load into the paver. Having a hot, consistent mix...

    Future 99 Corridor

There were definitely a lot of dumb decisions made on that one. I believe the rock was documented and things just didn't surface until after the fact. At the very least, any geologist that knows Central PA should know how to sample properly. As I heard it, Shuster really fast-tracked the...

    Geographical Track Loader use

Dirtwork, I agree that the MTL/CTL is replacing the small track loader. Even though the rubber tracks seen costly I bet they're still a lower overall cost when compared to steel. You may see some lower prices as some aftermarket people get into the mix too. The biggest advantage I see with...

Bulldozer buying (used)-What do you look at (for)?

With buying a Liebherr you're biggest problem is going to be parts. Not only now but five or 10+ years into the future. I suggest you call your dealer (not sure who carries parts for Liebherr) and price some parts and check the availability as well. You may find that you can get what you...

    Whats the diffrences between...

Sorry to hijack the thread - I was looking at Cat's wheel loader page and saw the claim "Caterpillar builds a complete line of wheel loaders, including the world's largest 994D," at the top of the page. By my count the 994 is 7th in the world behind the LeTorneau L-2350, 1850, 1800, 1400 1350...

    New Sterling Bullet

International definitely has led the class 6&7 market for a long time, though they are last in class 8. I grouped some of the numbers. Class 7 International: 34.96% Daimler: 32.88% Paccar: 12.58% Class 8 Daimler: 34.71% Paccar: 24.79% Volvo: 21.22% International: 18.79%

    Ford Louisville Model Designations

Thanks Steve and LT. That was the info I was looking for. So does LT mean tandem or long cab? From what I have found, do the 7000's and 8000's have the shorter cab and the 9000's have the longer cab? That seems right to me as bigger engine should equal bigger hood. So I have: L, LN...

    New Sterling Bullet

Squizzy, I did not know they pulled out of Australia. Wheather you like thier trucks or not, from a corporate standpoint they aren't in the best position. They haven't declared earnings since 2004 and were recenly kicked off the NYSE for those reasons. Will they have to find a merger...
