    the first motorgrader

That photo brings back memories. Back in January 1986 when I had just started out as a new Operator I was assigned to a road crew proudly at the helm of my old Tampo RS16 and the grader Operator, a man in his late 60's named Robert who honestly turned out to be the single greatest Grader...

Helping a neighbor??? Is it ever worth the effort...

I'm all for giving him his trees back, should he attempt to dispute the trees were his simply do a Google Earth search which should definitely show the trees on his property. It's hard to argue with photographic evidence. In the future when he asks for assistance which he will, politely decline...

    Homemade Wrecking Ball

Just a thought, if the poured walls are stripped bare on the inside and the size isn't too large a basement you can score the walls with a concrete saw about 2' on center vertically which should weaken the wall enough once pushed inward with an excavator. Demo'd an old wet-well -lift station-...

    Galion 150 Refurbish

You're welcome Bob, yes, you have to dig a little to decipher my location and no, that is a Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter, superior in many ways to a mini MD500 and definitely not a kit. I am impatiently waiting for my "little bird" to arrive -summer 2017- only two so far in the US, Guimbal only...

backhoe VS mini excavator production questions

I received a reply from Mecalac, apparently they are in the process of delivering a machine -not sure which machine- to NYC for contractor evaluation, delivery timeframe wasn't disclosed. Seems they've received numerous request from the US for access to their machines. Perhaps in the near future...

backhoe VS mini excavator production questions

There is VERY good money in underground power and communications work. Ever since the 2004 hurricane season when Florida got walloped by four storms then Momma Nature followed that with the encore known as Wilma in '05 there has been a huge drive to get all distribution underground. What people...

    koehring / northwest pics

Northwest Crane and Murphy Diesel made for great combinations in machinery. Interestingly, two brothers who were my late Father's cousin's purchased and owned both Northwest and Murphy during the great depression and owned them both for many years thereafter. Northwest 41's were extremely...

backhoe VS mini excavator production questions

I'm resurrecting this old thread because I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with Mecalac machines? I have contacted Mecalac to determine if and when they may become available in the US market. For the projects I am now involved with installing dry underground utilities for power and...

Got into IUOE apprenticeship. Already irritated.

To the OP, you left the IBEW for the IUOE? Here in Florida doing line work you can expect in excess of $45 per hour, as an earthmoving operator maybe, just maybe you'll get $27 per hour if you get into hoisting then you can make VERY good money but be bored senseless all day long. The IBEW has...

    Wacker Neuson ST35 CTL & 38Z3 Mini-Ex?

Thanks KSSS, I saw your video regarding the SSL/CTL roll out. Having used WN's generators, light towers, trash pumps and plate compactors for years I can attest to their quality that and Germans are generally very good at engineering. As far as my proximity to Seattle, if South Florida's...

    Wacker Neuson ST35 CTL & 38Z3 Mini-Ex?

I'm combining a thread to accommodate both machines in an effort to save time and confusion. I've recently taken a position with a company that focusses on high-end residential work mostly excavating, grading and yard drainage. The company has existed since 1982 and some of the equipment is...

    Volvo Excavators

Here in our area Volvo dealer support/service is exceptional and Volvo makes a VERY good Excavator contrary to what some might think Volvo Excavators are descendants from Akerman Excavators. I can tell you from personal experience they have roomy, comfortable cabs, are powerful are extremely...

    Some questions on greasing?

I appreciate all the input, the dozer with zerk "issues" has been moved to another project so its up to whoever is operating it now. I never was able to locate my rejuvenator so I purchased a new Zerk Zapper and some Marvel Mystery oil. My Lincoln cordless grease gun will do 10,000psi. But...

Help getting into the heavy equipment field...

I'm curious, why are you being requested to have a "hoisting" license if you're not operating a crane? That doesn't make sense to me, there are two distinct classes of heavy equipment, those that hoist (cranes) and those that move earth. I'll stick to earthmoving!

    Some questions on greasing?

Thanks OCR that was a helpful read. If I can locate my rejuvenator I'll try that first.
