Sounds interesting. Some pics of it would be awesome.

    Detroit 60 series issues

I'd be interested in the 18 speed if you want to sell it. I'm about an hour away from Claremore.

73' Kenworth in the slow lane!

Your transmission has a .87 overdrive ratio. The RTO 14613 has the same ratio. You need to find a late style RTLO 13 speed, or RTLO 18 speed, or any 9 or 10speed with an overdrive from from the 2000's or newer they will all have a .73 top gear ratio which will allow you to run 65 at around 1650 rpm.

Have a 1994 pete with electrical issues

There is a fuse for accessories in the fuse panel behind the clutch pedal that powers the dash gauges. That would be where I would look first.

    Truck purchase dilemma

That would be an easy choice for me. Lots of places to get the Detroit worked on and buy parts for it. Only a few places for the Volvo.

    Dump box and flat deck

Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread, however I'm interested in setting my Peterbilt tractor up with a quick change dump body something similar to the truck from Australia pictured in this thread. I'd like to leave the fifth wheel in place all the time. There are no trucks in my area to pattern...

    Cummins LT10 325hp urgent help

Check for a restriction between the fuel pump and fuel tank if you haven't already. Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel.

I would ask this question in the heavy duty section of thedieselgarage dot com. There are some good mechanics on there that are helpful.

    Dump Trucks

You're right.... you do sound like a complete smart axx, however I'm willing to learn. I only have 14 years of experience and 2 trucks at the moment, and like Mitch504 I am struggling to survive in our current economy. So if you have knowledge you would like to share that's more than telling us...

Kenworth T604 clutch pedal free play

The clutch just needs to be adjusted. You need to make the bottom adjustment through the inspection hole first to obtain a 1/2" gap between the throw out bearing and clutch brake. After that adjustment is made and the 1/2" gap is correct then check your pedal free travel and you should have 1...

    help with pete 379 AC

Not sure which pressure switch you're referring to....Nothing under the hood on the a/c system should have power except the wire going to the compressor clutch. Everything else is a ground. I think you will find it's a bad pressure switch or possibly a bad connection where the wire plugs up the...

    help with pete 379 AC

All the pressure switches are in series on the same ground circuit which controls the a/c relay in the fuse panel. Easiest way to check them is to jump across the plug for each one with a paper clip with the a/c turned on. Why do you think the pressure switch is bad if it didn't make a...

    Hi-side Quater Frame?

Quarter frames are mainly built so they can be used to haul asphalt. I am sure the trailer manufacturers would build you a quarter frame demo trailer if you ordered one, but for the most part the quarter frame is viewed as unneeded weight on a already heavy trailer.

2001 kenworth T800 tri axle dump

It's not much of a problem to dump them with the air bags deflated. They have a very different feel to them on the road. If you haven't driven an air ride dump truck before I would suggest asking the owner if you can drive it with a load so you can decide if the sway is something you're willing...

How hard is it to switch dump Bed?

I agree that's a great price. If its in decent shape I don't think you can go wrong buying it.

How hard is it to switch dump Bed?

That bed is worn pop can thin on the sides. You can see in the top pic where it has worn through on the passenger side just ahead of the patch. The worst thing about aluminum is when it gets old and thin is it fatigue cracks and requires constant welding. I don't believe that bed would stand up...

    Hauling Capacity question

In my area the DMV will allow you to register the truck for as much as you want, however the DOT DOES check the weight rating on the door jam. They won't allow you to haul more than the factory rating even if you add air axles to the truck.
