    Case 580B Clutch Pedal

Shocker, it is working so well that I just left the spring on the clutch pedal. It's a "light" spring, just enough to pull the pedal up. Not sure if it is my imagination, but the pedal seems to be working better after just using / working the tractor some......I may have to take the spring off...

    Case 580B Clutch Pedal

Sure did, the old tractor seems to have been taken care of fairly well......as all the grease fittings are "working" and it did not take much grease before it started coming out. The spring is working well.....seems that the more I use it the better it feels. But I do believe that we may have...

    Restoring AC HD6

I tell you, my Dad had 2 of those back in the 70's......a very good and reliable tractor. If you're talking about some small work personal work......check / change the fluids & FILTERS.....and fire her up. The tractor itself is very simple (as compered to the "high tech" you find today. Good...

    1973 Case 580

I've known some folks that have had good luck using ebay.....I tried it with no luck. I believe that they have another location on this site that allows you to list it here. Do you have any pictures of the 580 and D6.......do you think they're best suited for "parts only".....??? Good Luck

    Case 580B Clutch Pedal

Our 580B has good power and response with the hydraulic shuttle, however the clutch pedal is slow in releasing......actually have to help along by pulling it up with your foot at the underside. I have cleaned out and checked all the spools in the valve body on top, new spring for the pedal...

BAD miss, may have major trouble! 1967 580ck. Roughest backhoe in captivity.

Thanks for the recap....I have to say, you are taking this all in stride; but then again, whenever anyone even thinks about owning or working an "old" piece of equipment such as this (and the one we own, 1973 model Case 580B) you have to be prepared - mentally - for things such as this to...

    My first backhoe - 580B

Shopguy, it is the hydraulic shuttle.....I'm thinking that the remaining oil may have been in the "converter" itself, lines etc. Do you think you may have a good picture of the accelerator & floor board (upper and lower??)?? Thanks for any help to all.

BAD miss, may have major trouble! 1967 580ck. Roughest backhoe in captivity.

Packratc, I realize that you've got your hands fulll here.......I have quickly read through these 8 pages (the pictures are great), from what you've found out - do you still think this is a result of when you ran out of fuel and then some excessive either in trying to get it restarted?? Good...

    My first backhoe - 580B

Hi Phil, I've got a 580B question for you......the oil in the flywheel housing - does it come from the shuttle shift converter housing?? The reason I ask is that I changed the oil in the "shuttle shift housing", there is a drain plug at the flywheel - had about 2 quarts of oil, then I moved back...

    My first backhoe - 580B

Floor Board Hi guys, still can not start a new thread - so I thought I would jump on this one, sorry. Alot of good information here. I have this 1973 Case 580B (shuttle shift), overall it seems in good shape - just needs some TLC. One item that has me in the dark is the foot accelerator...

Looking for my first backhoe. Thinking of a Case 580

dwloop, I forgot to ask - what is the "trick to clean the pick-up", is it flushing the transmission with some diesel....??? The pressure is green and ten drops when you put the shuttle in forward / reverse.....but once it is going (i.e. the clutch pedal is out) the power seems to be ok. Thanks...

Looking for my first backhoe. Thinking of a Case 580

Thanks dwloop, you got a good point about the brakes - one spring is missing, the other appears very weak. I just received my 2 new springs. I did notice that the brakes did depress when pushing in on the clutch - but the brakes did not return without some help - I'll try the springs and see...

Looking for my first backhoe. Thinking of a Case 580

Hi Guys......new to the site, but after reading several posts - there is a wealth of information here. My Dad (who will be 80 years old in April) has a 580B CK that I have been trying to get to running - new starter, cleaning the shuttle valve control body - and she is going. Seems to be a...
