    Hardfacing a TLB bucket

Another vote for Stoody 31 I’ve also had very good performance from Lincoln Wearshield ABR

left track slower than right cx36B

I have a CX36b and had a CX50b, both tracked slower on one side after about 2000 hours. Both were open cab machines, both had corrosion and wear in the pedal linkage where the pedal rocks forward/reverse to work the travel. There is a little rounded surface on the underside of of a metal block...

International 4700 gauges not working bad solder joints?

If your instrument panel is like the one I fixed (1999 4700) it has three plugs. Check the gray or maybe black wire coming into the bottom of the middle plug. I think it is the second wire from the bottom on the passenger side of the plug. The terminal in the connector on the panel was loose...

Need a lead on septic box manufacturer

A follow-up to my original post. @wrc said he would like to see the box, and by accident I found a youtube video (not mine) that shows a very similar gravel sled - fast forward to about 4:45 to see how it works. I found a gravel box that another local contractor owned, so I measured it and...

Need a lead on septic box manufacturer

Well, different states, different specs I guess. Virginia allows corrugated hdpe, pvc, and even open joint terra cotta/v.c. in the absorption field for conventional gravity systems. Systems here are designed by the state, or a licensed designer. Installers are licensed.

Need a lead on septic box manufacturer

Howdy folks, first post in several years, hope everyone is doing well! If I am in the wrong sub-forum please move it mods. I searched several terms trying to find previous posts about this but struck out, let me know if I missed one. Does anyone know of any manufacturers on the east coast...

Hauling an Excavator behind a dump truck

50k from 80k gcvw leaves you 30k empty weight truck and trailer - if your dump weighs 22k that leaves you 8k lbs for a 25 ton payload trailer. Not sure but that sounds kind of light. My 35 ton lowboy weighs 17k or so my old 55 ton weighed 20k+\- so i bet a 25 ton triaxle tag weighs 12k lbs or...

    Directional drilling with some rock

Did you call Spru Craig out of Shipman, Va? Or E. Ann Jackson out of Richmond, Va? I've used Craig on jack and bore casings close to that size and length, but not 30' drop in the length. They should both be in the Blue Book or on Internet/yellow pages.

Machine Operating cost??? Per hour? Without operator?

Your cat salesman can show/give/sell you the "Caterpillar Performance Handbook" i think that's the name - it has operating cost data with all the variables for your operating conditions - should answer most of your questions on your cat equipment. Most of the manufacturers will gladly share...

Have you a very basic way to work out charge out rate ?

I too use a spreadsheet to track operating expenses for each machine I already own as well as it's annual utilization (underused machines have less hours in which to capture fixed/indirect costs) but when it comes to pricing hourly fee for a new machine I do one of the following: - ask the...

Step up to a backhoe from a skidsteer?

Skidsteer/mini-ex combo is potent for many applications, but I would disagree that backhoes are obsolete, or should be. There are applications in which a backhoe still excels. I have owned 50-75 pieces of earthmoving equipment in the last twenty years including half a dozen minis and...

Whats the craziest thing you have dug up?

Found a silver half dollar once while v-ditching along a road. Asked the owner if i could bring my metal detector back on the weekend to look for more, he declined, guess he thought i was going to get rich. I dug up a cow skeleton/carcass while laying sewer once also. Nothing too exciting...

    Best Simple Drafting Software?

I used TurboCad for a while - think you can buy it for about 40 bucks online - it's not the full fledged autocad but it's not 2500 bucks either. It worked fine for me doing the same thing you are talking about - drawing schematics for job submittals etc. Good luck.

    Welcome!!!

Hi Stock - I run a topcon hiperlite - its a fixed base and a rover - hands down the best money i ever spent. The base gets set on a control point and transmits-receives with the rover with real time positioning info, i load the plans into the handheld, as well as a surface model i make, and any...

    Welcome!!!

Been lurking for a few months here, guess I need a few posts to get validated before I can start or respond to main forum threads. I've been a sitework contractor for 20 years, had as many as 30 employees and as few as 1 - can't figure which extreme I prefer lol. Anyway, do it all from...
