    Cat 236 chain, bearing noise?

Thanks for your reply Swannny, I had talked to a couple of Cat dealer mechanics and they said to check under the cab for any loose bolt and it possibly could be a bearing. As hard as it is for us independant mechanics to turn away any business, I had to tell my customer that he should take it...

Anybody have experience with a JCB 10,000

The low boom has a lower center of gravity, but I have never noticed a difference in operation. The low boom usually has less visibility because, like you say, everyone travels with it raised a little which obstructs vision to the right side. The low boom can leave you in a pickle if the...

Anybody have experience with a JCB 10,000

As a field mechanic, I don't like the parts issues I always run across and the hydraulic hoses are usually metric. Not all places carry metric fittings in stock, which means farther drive and more down time. Of the 2 JCB forklifts that I have worked on, the operators both liked them.

    Cat 236 chain, bearing noise?

I have a customer with a Cat 236 skid loader with approx. 500 hrs on the machine. It has a noise coming from the right front chain case area when the machine travels at a decent speed forward and reverse. At first it sounds like a chain rattle or hiss. I raised the right side of the machine...

Rent shop space, buy, build at the house or none of the above?

Adam21584 is right about the height, mine has 12' doors and most of the time is fine but 14' would occasionally be nice!

    Cummins injection pump help

I recently had an injector pump rebuilt that was on a Cummins engine in a Komatsu forklift and its fuel pump was part of the injector pump. I told the rebuilder I had never seen one and he showed me the vane pump when he disassembled it. I make removing the pump the last option. Make sure the...

Rent shop space, buy, build at the house or none of the above?

If I read your bio I would have thought that someone wrote it about me! I am 40 yrs. old and started the business when I was 26 doing exactly the the same thing. I had a small shed that my service truck would not fit in but was good enough to do personal work and small jobs in. In 2004 I...

    Looking at my first Lull

Be careful of those older machines like the one pictured. I am a mobile mechanic that specializes in reach forklifts of all brands. I still occasionally see these old beasts and alot of the parts are not available. The last dinosaur I repaired was just like this, a Lull 400, the stub axle was...

    grease

rockinacummins, I agree with you on the Lucas injector cleaner. It does save on fuel mileage, but after calculating mileage and cost it's about break even for me. Break even is good with the lubrication benefits. Also, I really like the red and tacky tube grease. I service construction...

    944E-42 Lull steering scenario

Joelmartin, it is usually always the steer cylinders causing the machine to track funny in the 4-wheel steer mode. For future reference test all four cylinders(or two if thats all it has) because when we operate the machine we automatically put the front wheels in line with what we think is...
