    cat 830mb veitnam scrapper

You've got a standard Caterpillar control valve, Caterpillar run a common return line on their scrapers, look at any(scraper), there is only four hoses that go back to the bowl for the six functions. When you operate the levers one way the oil in the other end of the rams returns in the common...

D8H engine oil pump failure, what to do?

D8H's have a long shaft that drives the oil pump. There is a splined coupling near the pump that does wear out to the point that it will stop driving. I've seen this several times, the most resent in the last twelve months on a friends D8H. His one ceased the turbo first then run the main...

    D6R intermittent fault

Most Cats these days have a solenoid that runs most of the electrics. When fault they work intermittently. Often if you turn the key off and on, before starting you will find your dash (and everything else) may work. we've replaced quite a few of these in diggers, dozers, dumpers & scrapers.

    D8k trans leak

D8H's used to crack the aluminium housings in the torque convertor resulting in the convertor housing getting flooded, I guess that D8K's are the same. If you have the scavenge pump out, turn the engine over slowly and have a good look, you can often see if they are cracked.

    621f seat shock absorber

Hi rdr, we had the same problem with 637e seat shock absorber, part number updated to complete seat section at a cost of several thousand dollars and seemed to be the only way you could buy it from Caterpillar. We ended up sourcing a shock out of a road truck seat, it was slightly different...

    Caterpillar 631G cab floor height

Gavin, I could not agree more, the world's gone crazy and Australia lead it. Here in N.Z. (being Aussies poor little cousin) everytime some clown over there comes up with a stupid idea we adopt it and life becomes harder. It won't be long and we will have to do a JSA (Job Safety Analysis) to...

Cat D6R Series 2 Engine swap

pcparker, tell us all if you find out if it can be done, one of the worst things Cat ever did was take the 3306 out of the D6, they burn less fuel says Cat, Yeah right, our one loves the fuel, it burns oil too, and has just cost over $10,000.00c to replace the fuel pump and injectors at 6000hrs...

    D7F Powershift problem

Late D7F's, with the small transmission (like a D6c) have an "o" ring on the suction line at the bottom of the transmission housing, where it bolts onto the backend. They can suck air here if the "o" ring is not good. Have seen mechanic's leave this out causing the same problem you have. Only...

    Historic NZ Earthmoving Projects

Hi There, The D9G you speak about was new to MOW and in the 1970's work at Porirua near the Police training college. MOW used to have a cushion pusher blade for it, hence the single blade ram mount at the top of the nose cone. I understand the lime works were the second owner. Don't think...

    D8H torque flooding

They crack the outer aluminium housing (described as a wheel in the parts book 1t270) and fill the torque/ flywheel housing with trans oil. Often they will still work fine but the scavange pump can not keep up with the excess oil. Often if you want to check this you can pull the scavange pump...

    Terex Scrapers in New Zealand

LDK Increases the oil capacity in the tank normally needed if towing a hydraulic scoop. This is likely an import from Japan where it probably did that. 68M.

    Wabco scrapers at work

Showpony, Wow, looks good, well done. Looked a bit sad last time I saw it in Rex's yard, great to see it preserved and cherished, we need to look after our history especially icons such as 333FT's. Once they're gone they are lost for ever. Keep it up, what is next? Cheers 68M.

    Euclid TDT 14 scraper

Hi Diggerman It's time someone answered your question. Euclid 14TDT's were made in the states and are a single engined (six wheel) scraper normally refer to as an SS18. they were powered with a Cummins 275 hp engine. The 14 refer's to the engine and that it was made to tow a scraper, the First...
