    Yep, I can see that happening. If the machine is making a noise, suspend operation in a safe spot and wait for a mechanic to arrive!

    The mine does have several of these trailers. The D11T with the engine failure was working in an area this rig could not reach. These rigs are used for bringing equipment to the main shop from the pit.

    I don't understand why these people always "walk" a piece of equipment back to the maintenance yard for repairs. The mechanics have trucks, don't they? We just had an operator try to "walk" a D11T to a maintenance yard that had a low oil pressure alarm going off due to one of the oil filters not...

    All the big coal mines around here are switching to the ag tractors and pans. Ill try to get some pics very soon. It is a mixture of Deere, Case, and Cat. Mixtures of both wheel and tracks. Mixtures of 1, 2, and 3 pans behind the units.

    But at the mines, us mechanics get paid by the hr to babysit stuff even if its band new: We almost got a full day replacing normal wear parts on R models and 992Ks.

    You could do like they do out at a coal mines: Put electrical tape over the warning lights, and disconnect the buzzer so it won't hurt your ears.:Pointhead

    The first mine I worked at was Union, and they wouldn't let me work in the shop in the winter time when some guys got laid off so I would be forced to clean the office. I have a sour taste about unions ever since.:mad:
