    Cat D8G engine woes

The Acmoc forum is a good place to ask as well. If nothing else should the boss decide to sell it post on there first, hopefully someone will save it from scrap. http://www.acmoc.org/bb/forum.php Sounds like a fuel issue to me.

    is it to heavy

Thing to remember is that electric brakes are not fail safe. Anything goes wrong and you have no brakes, possibly with no warning. Loose wire, cut wire, connector is loose, etc etc. Air brakes you have the emergency system which will apply the brakes in the worse case scenario. Now, you can...

    Late 60's MF2200

Good point, forgot the pan is structural. On my ford it's also the front axle mount, so pretty much impossible to pull the pan in the tractor. I would leave the lift rams and loader frame on the tractor and take the arms/bucket off. You'll have to disconnect the tilt hoses, but should make...

    3/4 Impact sockets

Keep an eye on craigslist too - I got a nice set of older USA 3/4 drive sockets for pretty cheap not long ago. Just got to be on the ball to find and get them. You can also set it up on there to search surrounding area so it'll find anything within say 2-300 miles. May be worth the drive if...

Has anyone rebuilt a JD 450C Transmission/final drives?

No personal experience myself, but what I understand is that it's a big job, but no reason it couldn't be done. You'd need patience, the correct manual and attention to detail, likely also some special tools. May also be possible to pull the trans at your shop and have it rebuilt - still be...

963B with blowby 9000 hrs. Advise pls

How much are you going to use it? I personally would probably due an oil analysis and do a close check for any other serious issues (ie knock, low power, smoke, etc). If the oil comes back ok and the engine is otherwise sound It's probably okay to run for a while though I wouldn't want to work...

    Late 60's MF2200

I'd bet the backhoe is fairly easy to remove. On my 65 Ford 3500 (723 hoe) the backhoe has a pair of pins on the bottom that sit in half round cups on the tractor end and a pair of clamp arms held down by a bolt on the top. Removal is a simple matter of loosening the 2 clamp nuts, then...

May very well be the same manual. I think the copy I have is 555/555A/555B but I could be wrong.

Ford 4600 fuel pump on ford 550

Might try talking to a fuel injection shop? They should have specs based on the Cav number and these might hold the answer. I'd guess difference in governed rpm or torque curve. My guess is they could be swapped, through I would try to get more info from an injection shop to see what the actual...

    is it to heavy

https://www.heavyequipmentforums.com/showthread.php?57565-F350-Backhoe-Trailer-Fatality How lucky do you feel? What's the risk of killing someone worth to you? Do you want to have to face someone's wife/husband/child/etc and explain that you thought it would be safe and a good truck was too...

    Costs to Run a Semi?

Here in CA they have a number of services that rent trucks specifically for the drive test for about $500-800. You can use your own, but have to show up with a properly licensed driver - I'm told they check this. Same deal with using a school or rental truck for the exam in regards to light...

How much $$ to add a thumb?

Thread on a homemade setup for a backhoe not long ago here: https://www.heavyequipmentforums.com/showthread.php?57765-Thumb-for-Ford-4500-backhoe I posted some pics and info of what I made for my old hoe in there. The prices quoted amaze me, especially for a mechanical thumb. It's very...

    Thumb for Ford 4500 backhoe

I added a separate valve off the power beyond port on the backhoe vale and have it hooked to a foot pedal. I have a 555a valve on the hoe since the original one died and it was setup for a power beyond rather than the original 723 valve which had a simple flow through to the loader valve. Not...

    Thumb for Ford 4500 backhoe

Not sure why they're rotated, sorry. This is also a 723 backhoe which has a odd stick setup. Yours is likely a 753 that's a more conventional stick and slightly different to mount to. I have the remote setup on a foot petal so it's easy to use with the bucket. Having the hydraulic thumb...

    Thumb for Ford 4500 backhoe

Here's some pictures of my setup. Rams are 2x30" IIRC, no reason really for that size just what I had. Mounting flanges for rams and thumb pivot are 1/2" plate with drilled holes for the pin. Ram mounts have bushings to make them the width of the ram clevis, would probably just use 1" plate...
