    Weyerhaeuser Company Logging Operations

Moto Matt, you had to have walked right near it on your hike, you were definitely in the right place. It is there, I'm bummed to see that you didnt find it. It is very near the shoreline of the lake, at the upper end. It looks like you were very very close for sure.

    Weyerhaeuser Company Logging Operations

These are some pics taken in 2020 by a friend who hikes in there somewhat regularly with the kids. As you can see, the whole area is growing up in alder trees and the equipment is not as easy to spot as it was 20 years ago. The old iron is still there, just rusting back into the earth.

    Weyerhaeuser Company Logging Operations

The Skagit GT-5C yarder and Cat D8 are at the upper end of the lake in the canyon, directly under the 3000 road. We always parked up on the 3000 and hiked straight down into it. The end of the yarder boom is very near the water now, and the Cat D8 is up on the hill above the yarder, about 700...

I hope all is well, post more of your yarder mister.

Here are some pics of a Skagit BU-94 they own and are using as they need it. This one is mounted on a Skagit T-100 self-propelled carrier.

Here's a Skagit BU-80 at B&M Logging, pics taken as the yarder was parked at Mineral in the later 1990's. Painted yellow/black in the B&M color scheme.

Its all good mister, just a little confusing as they had 2 of the 737's that they have reworked, repainted, and then sold. This was mostly just a great opportunity to share some pics I had of both machines when B&M had them. I also figured if you had a connection to the Handly & Phillips machine...

Sorry for the double post of 1st pic, this site is quirky with pics. Tried to delete but that isn't working. Here's a pic showing that same 739 behind the C500 lowboy truck at B&M when the yarder is looking fresh and clean. The Gale boys do look at the forum here from time to time so hopefully...

Here are some pics of the 737 B&M ended up selling to Gale Contracting in NZ. This is the machine seen in the orange/black/white paint in your pics. These pics are not great quality and were taken at Chehalis, Washington when the yarder was in for service at McPaul Machine. This was a nice...

Thunderbird Yarders, Loaders, and Etc from the Murray's in Eugene Oregon

Only one serial number appears on my printed list after S5188, and it is S5189. There is no owner or ship date shown, so at the time my list was printed, it may still have been new in inventory. My digital list shows that it went to Finning in September of 1999. There is no record of who they...

Thunderbird Yarders, Loaders, and Etc from the Murray's in Eugene Oregon

1 highlead and 3 TY-80 slacklines were built. One is currently with Krume (Castle Rock, Wa), one is currently with Dancer (Camas valley Ore), and the 3rd went new to NZ and has always remained there. The slackline machine Krume has (SN Y8038) was new to Weyerhaeuser in Cottage Grove Oregon The...

Those are not the same 2 Skagit 737's although they did both belong to B&M Logging at one point. Both were painted yellow and black when B&M owned them. The machine shown in blue/white in your pics is currently owned by Ken Risseeuw at Willamina, Oregon and is still B&M colors, yellow and black...

Here is the Skagit BX2000 hoist in parts at a location outside Fairbanks Alaska. This is on the same property as the Skagit/Northwest combo unit posted above, and there are many other neat old-growth era yarders working in that same area. Several Bergers, lots of Skagit (BU-98's are especially...

Working in the Fairbanks area in 2014 on one of my visits. You may recognize this machine as one of the units used in several of the locations you mentioned including the dredging in the Castle Rock area after the eruption of Mt St Helens. It is still going today and runs whenever they need it...

    Where has everyone gone?

Most everybody has gone to facebook for several reasons. For me it is the following reasons I am using facebook: 1. Real-time conversations and instant response times from the people you need information from 2. The ability to edit or add information as it comes to you in real time 3. Easier...

Hayes trucks in the logging industry

Yes the fenders are both in 'used' condition and you can see some differences in them; the original fender (RH) is in need of some TLC for sure. The headlights and bumper? would LOVE to add those but am not sure where to look for parts just yet. Any good leads on a bumper and headlight buckets...

Hayes trucks in the logging industry

She's all original in terms of running gear, and the factory blue paint can be seen in areas around the frame where the paint is peeling or scratched- she wasn't sandblasted when the yellow went on. I really do like the yellow over the blue and I must say the more I drive this truck the more I...

Hayes trucks in the logging industry

1974 Hayes HD 35-78 Serial Number 5344 Picked this one up awhile back and we are slowly getting her cleaned up; Runs like a top but needs TLC and misc parts. I took her for a spin here on the island tonight and took this picture coming off the neighborhood woods road about 7:30pm. Her working...

    S. Madill, Blacksmith, Founded in 1911 in Nanaimo BC

Yes- some adjustments are required but it is possible to fly a skycar with a 124. They are a very fast, expensive yarder and you can skycar log farther with much less expensive machinery. If you have a steady diet of that work then a 124 is likely not the best machine for the job; The 124 is...
