    Truck hours ?

I know are dumps that run in town a lot normally average about 20 to 25mph. Some of the lowboys if the run in town all day get down to 12 or 15mph avg.

    Kenworth W900 or T800

Is that milling machine really that heavy to need a 6 axle trailer? I have moved several around here and normally use just a tri axle truck and a tri axle trailer. As for my preference of W900 or T800 I have driven them both and they are the same. The T800 is allot better for visibility while...

How many annual hours do heavy haul lone rangers run?

Our trucks run mostly local under 250mi. They tend to average about 25 to maybe 30mph with in between 1,800 to 2,300hrs some run more but not normally to much more. Our loaded empty ratio is about 50/50.

Are all roads closed during heavy haul prohibited travel times?

Truck 505, I can't remember the width but, in NC you can get away with just flags on the widest parts of the load if it's not over a certain width. So you wouldn't need a permit or signs or anything just a few flags.:)

Are all roads closed during heavy haul prohibited travel times?

Truck 505, in NC we have the permit on paper and most of the time it is all on one page but, sometimes it is two. As long as the first sheet has the signature line on it and it is signed they don't care about the second sheet.

Are all roads closed during heavy haul prohibited travel times?

If you have a permit for it do what the permit says. No exceptions. Here it is Monday thru Saturday. From official time of sunrise to official time of sunset. With some stricter time restrictions in some of the bigger cities. That is pretty much all are rules as far as restrictions until you...

Heavy haul loads cannot go on the Interstate system?

What Truck505 said. We normally give the permit folks the route we want to run and they say whether or not it's okay to go that way. Which includes interstates.

Road ranger question, trouble changing from high range to low range

It's most likely a synchronizer inside the transmission has gone bad. At Least it was was with our Mack when it started doing that.

When does one apply for heavy haul trip permits?

Pete I went and moved a paver one day for the paving crew and they had left all their crap on the back of the screed. So guess what I did:mad:. The lot where it was parked happened to have allot of big mud holes in it and all the shovels, lutes, spray bottles, vest, and even two lunch boxes went...

When does one apply for heavy haul trip permits?

This is about right if the tracks are clean I can have most equipment chained down and ready to go in about 30 minutes. The only thing that takes me longer for some reason is the larger dozers it will take me about 45 minutes to get one of those loaded and ready to go. All in all you should have...

When does one apply for heavy haul trip permits?

If you want to be safe call a day ahead of time. But we all know someone will call and want something moved now. In my state (NC) I can generally have a permit in about 30min. Those permits are 132,000lb gross on 7 axles, up to 15ft wide (Requires front and rear escorts) up to 14ft tall (can go...

    What engine do you prefer.

We have had them all. I would have to say in the older trucks you can't beat the Cat's for power but, my personal favorite in the 2000 year model range is the 12.7L Detroit. Not the most powerful engine out there but, it was reliable as hell and got better fuel mileage than any of the other...

Heavy haul truck specs for pulling 55ton RGB trailer

Here is a Volvo. http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3899271 Just not my personel preference for a truck. If you do go with a Volvo make sure and get a Cummins ISX engine the Volvo engines are having allot of problems right now.

Heavy haul truck specs for pulling 55ton RGB trailer

I agree with this. Plus the Ultrashifts are prone to problems. There is one company here that runs about 120 trucks that went to the ultrashifts and have had quite a bit a trouble with them. They have gone back to specing manuals and Allison autos.

Heavy haul truck specs for pulling 55ton RGB trailer

One other thing on my extra price list is that we run very basic headache racks that are about $1,200 but, the more fancy you get the more the price goes up. We have a guy that hauls for us sometimes and has one that cost almost $10,000. Be very careful in the used market with heavy haul...

Heavy haul truck specs for pulling 55ton RGB trailer

Well there are three main reasons for going with the Pete over some of the others. First is the Pete 389 is lighter than a a 367 (Pete's version a KW T800) by almost 3,000lbs with comparable specs. Second is price. The Pete is about $5,000 cheaper than what KW priced us. The third I reckon...

Heavy haul truck specs for pulling 55ton RGB trailer

Get a 550HP ISX Cummins that way you can have the 1,850Ft/lbs of torque. They make a 500HP engine with 1850 torque but, will not spec it for an over the road operation. 18 Speed Fuller If you are going to run allot of highway I would run a 3.91 rear end. 18,000lb or 20,000lb Front...

    Rookie mover

I don't know about in CA but, in my state permitting for over length is no big deal. Just a telephone call to the permit office will normally get you what you need pretty quick.

    Rookie mover

Just so you all know in the second drawing Briken made that setup normally takes allot of chain, unless the tiedown points are really close together.
