    Motor oil vs. Hydraulic fluid.

Are you sure? Rule of thumb is 10 psi per 1000 rpm. Fuel will see high pressure in modern diesels not motor oil

    Motor oil vs. Hydraulic fluid.

Also engine oil is not sheer stable, it will shear. Different polymers are used in hydraulic oil and engine oils. At work I would not go against an oem recommendation, on my equipment I would never, NEVER use engine oil in a hydraulic system. Think about the pressure differences.

    Motor oil vs. Hydraulic fluid.

Hey all, I have worked in the lubricant industry for several years in mining. Motor oil had more additives than is needed for fire hydraulics but will work. The major difference is motor oil has an emulsifier additive, meaning it will hold water in suspension. Almost all other oils will...

ATF Dexron II in hydraulic system of excavator Atlas-Terex TC225LC

Leon, You can use ATF instead of hydraulic oil, it wont do any harm. You wont have any problems switching back either. You want to check to make sure your Terex machine doesnt need a TO-4 fluid. Both ATF and To-4 have a friction modifier for wet brake/wet clutch applications.

Mulit weight oil in p/c engines ?

Some models run a cooler clutch off the engine reservoir. Any wet clutch or wet brake will shear the viscosity modifier (the polymer that makes multi-weight). This will lower the viscosity of the oil, reducing the protection of the oil.

Tubine 46 vs AW 46 question

Don't run turbine oil, it lacks AW. Why are you looking for cheap stuff? Cheap/ wrong/ dirty oil will create 100 x the problems than the pennies you saved.

    Winter grease.

Every grease will be different for switching over. It depends on base oil viscosity, VI, NLGI grade, pump system (if any).

Cat did not get out of the oil business. They certainly have a partnership with Mobil. DA is decent from what I've seen

    Oil drum pump/flow meter

As Diydave said Northern are cheap knockoffs. Save the money you would spend on the hose reel. It's mobile the house reel will be a pain, imagine pulling hose out from a wheeled cart. Buy a drum caster , 5:1 pneumatic pump , alemite / Graco/Lincoln/ARO are decentt. 15 feet of 1/2" hose...
