    Park gear on 4630

I would think levers, linkage. I believe that is a mechanical actuated park lock.

Perkins T 3544 engine in Hyster H180 need info

A customer of mine has a Hyster H180H forklift with a hay squeeze attachment. It has air brakes. The previous owner transplanted what I believe to be a Perkins T6 3544 engine into it. The engine has an air compressor for the brakes mounted at mid point of the engine, it is driven from a shaft...

    310a slow hydraulics help

Got a look at that book tonight. I was out chasing balers tonight so I stopped by the shop and pick it up. Here's a description of the circuit diagram for S/N 161723 and later Oil is picked up from the suction screen and sent to the Transmission Oil Filter, before the filter there is a...

New Build Tree Spade For The Skid Steer

I don't throw much of any steel away, it its been cut off with a torch I will trim out the good piece. I've got a heavy duty shelf that I stack iron on from 24" to 1" long, each shelf is for flatbar, angle, round, pipe or DOM, and square tubing. Once again, nice job.

    drill bit needed

A holesaw works well. Keep it oiled and use some air to blow the chips out of the cut channel and teeth. I' ve got a 2" lennox brand holesaw that has cut 6 holes thru 1" mild plate. I did have it in a mag drill. I think that helps alot.

The calls you'd rather not have gotten.

Got a call once, "The skid steer fell off the back of the flat bed. We need it ASAP" Driver had tried to take it under a 10' railroad trussel. 2 weeks later I got a new ROPS/cab fabricated for it and the cylinder towers on the tree spade straightened out. 2 years on a large farm with lots...

    cat 416 transmission

Its been a little over a year and no problems. But probably only 200 hours of use. Make sure you talk to somebody that is familar with welding and repairing hardend steel. I'm guessing your in Canada. Have you checked with any salvage yards in the US?

    cat 416 transmission

You should try to find a machine shop that is familar with building gears and cutting splines. I had a machine shop in Eugene, Oregon weld up a shaft and re-cut the splines on a HI/LO drum from a JD4030. They charged about $700 for that which included heat treating. Used part was $1200.

    JD 410 Hydraulic Fluid Change

I worked on a JD 7610 ag tractor with quad range transmission, had 3K or 4k hours. Water had gotten in the hyd/trans oil from swapping some dump bed trailers between it and 2 older 4020's that always had water mixed in. The glue used to hold the friction material onto the clutch disc wa water...

Post your specialty shop tools here

I used a 50 ton jack to pull the wheel hub from the spindle on a JD 570A. Before I got to much on it, I decided I need a safety chain around the jack and through the handle to keep it rocketing thru the shop. I am still glad I did. The chained stopped that jack just inches from my knees. The...

    JD 410 Hydraulic Fluid Change

I looked up the parts drawing of the trans/hyd suction screen and it looks just like the type in the ag tractors. I've seen these screens so plugged up with clutch material that it was very difficult to remove. I used a screw driver and pryed on the screen in a twisting motion until I could move...

Caterpillar 416, No forward gear from shuttle

Tore into the 416 backhoe today. Changed the filter to start with. Transmission would shift into reverse easier then forward, but you had to raise the rpm quit a bit. The pressure reading for the forward gear was 100 psi and line pressure was 5-8 psi at idle but would increse to 90 at full...
