deere 200c has a ticking noise??

When was the last time you had the valves adjusted? Deer engines require valve adjustments at regular intervals.

GPS Machine controls. Or a Pipe laser, or a paint line.

    Thumb install

If you are going to weld on a boom or a stick of an excavator make sure you understand the proper procedures to prevent cracking. I used to work for a guy who had a local welder install a thumb on his machine. Needless to say he didn't do it right and he was left with the stick broken in half...

    Excavator Thumbs

What you are describing is a progressive link thumb. It will follow the bucket almost all the way around. The one you have is a regular hydraulic thumb that will only go about 2/3 of the way. You will just need to have more space to move around to make it work. IE… the progressive link thumb...

Should I buy this Deere 590D?

If you are serious about buying it ask them if you could try it on your job site for a day or two. Of course if you don't like it you would have to pay the rental fee and the moving cost. However, that would be cheaper then reselling it. What have you got to lose? All they can do is say no.

    Another excavator oops!

That looks like an expensive way to demo a bridge. Around here they always have the excavator facing the other way. Looks to me like the driver just didn't know what he was doing or else maybe he needs a drug test.

    new job

Looks good. A V bucket would be nice for cutting those slopes. It would probably be faster and safer.

    Yikes!! See this one yet?

I guess the boss should have hired the guy who had more experience. But no, he wanted to save 4 or 5 bucks an hour.

    Wain Roy Coupler

My experience is that they suck. If you are trying to save money go with a wedge style mechanical coupler. If you do much utility work you should go with a hydraulic coupler.

    Newby question about using excavator

I'll have to ask again. I'm pretty sure it was because of the excavator in the creek though.

    Newby question about using excavator

I guess they wanted to set an example. He said they arrested him and threw him in jail overnight. I'm not sure on all the details.

    Newby question about using excavator

Not sure how the laws are over in Australia but, I know a guy who got arrested and thrown in jail for walking his excavator through a creek. Around here you can find guys that do private locates.

    excavator blades

What do you mean by "tippy" Do the front Idlers rock excessively because they need to be rebuilt? I think blades suck on excavators except for maybe a mini.

    change excavator gear oil

Depending on what year it is you should probably use synthetic gear oil. I know the newer models call for it. Do you have an operators manual for this machine?

    John Deere 550G won't move

Well, you have only used it 40 hours but, how long since the last guy changed the filter?

    John Deere 550G won't move

When did you last change the filter for the transmission?

All I wanna do is load dirt?

Hire them by the hour. Have a "Truck Foreman" who just babysits the trucks all day long. Have at least two trucks of your own or drivers you trust. Put them in the middle of the trucks and then every truck they "ride" or pass you sign off at the end of the day and tell them you don't need them...
