    '81 JD 410 Hydraulic Problem

    I ran several of late 70's early 80's JD 's 410, 510 before the B series. They did not have enough power to the stabilizers to lift themselves up, ESPECIALY if the front bucket was down counteracting the lift. Aside from that they were mean digging machines, fully throttle operation...

    post holes 2" pipe

    I've had the idea of welding a short 2"- 4" long 4'-6" dia pipe to a steel plate and attaching it to the bottom of a Ho-pack, vibratory compactor for use as a post driver. It might work some of my ideas do.

    Join a plan room or plan center, and bid everything within your work area, maybe the state department of transportation have internet access to plans and bid tabulations. Pull bid results, bid tab's and abstracts on public job you can and see what the market is doing and who is getting the work.

    We rented a Kobelco, minimal or zero swing, 235 I think, really good lifting capacity for its weight.

    Pointers on blowing a pull string through conduit

    We make a parachute out of tie wire and plastic, tie it to pull string or a ball of baler twine blow it through with a 185 compressor. Other methods may fail if you're blowing through fibreglass sweeps (they have a constriction in the slip coupler) or have water in the conduits.

    Digging over sprockets

    Indeed and when are bucket teeth upside down? If the teeth are put on "upside down" the bucket will load if the floor of the bucket is held flat which would suggest the teeth are the right way up?

    I understood you should dig over the front idlers, but with the rubber tracks and blade on our Takeuchi's we usually dig over the sprockets

    Try to find a ripper or frost point, a single shank ripper will pry them out easier?

    I didn't think the 310B came out untill early 80's just a year or two before the C series of JD backhoes. I 310 B has clutch and like 5 gear ratio in low and highrange?

    I had 1986 215 B LC a very fast powerfull reliable machine. It's still working for a farmer I believe.

    Trenching in drain tile.

    You either need to fabricate a bucket the shape of the tile or go with a wider trench to get bedding to support pipe to springline, the botom half of of the circle.
