Peterbilt 379 Flat Top lowboy project

I was wondering what happened to him on Instagram. I enjoyed seeing the updates on this truck, I think he even took my advice for the valve cover decals.

    Tracks or Tires

You mentioned the 277c so I just said you should go with a 279c if you are set on Cat. Really the two brands I would go with are Cat or Case. Deere has gotten better over the years but they are still so damn noisy in my opinion. 70% of it is based on personal opinion. BTW I loved our Gehls with...

Blades a bit thin on this Cat

Agreed with oldirt. Any time we reface our machines, we have the local machine shop roll a whole new face and wings, and then weld them on the blade

    Cat 936F won't shut down

Earlier F machines you should have to lift the pedal. Like Nige said, the last model was the one with the electronic shut off solenoid

    Tracks or Tires

I would say you should be fine with tires, especially since you're moving wood around. A machine with tires will save you some money up front and help with the $30k or less price tag. The newer Case wheeled skid loaders, like the SV300 are super nice and can be had for around the $30K price...

If you can't afford to lose time at your job, cut her loose and pay the extra $2 an hour for the other one to watch her.

    New to Back Slopes

I guess I like to back slope from both sides of the blade. It doesn't make a difference to me, but like radrock said cut from the bottom out and just move up the slope cutting more and more until you have a nice gradual slope.

    2001 Deere 260 skid loader

Well this is where I'm confused. The parking brake is held off by hydraulic pressure. The brake housing is connected to the drive motor correct (they come out as one piece)? We pulled the whole entire drive motor out, and resealed it will all new gaskets and o-rings from john deere.

I actually went to SDSU for construction management. What kind of backhoe did you get? We are over that way every so often to get some stuff from the quarry. Last year we were hauling rebar off of I29.

    2001 Deere 260 skid loader

I'm asking this question for a good buddy of mine. He bought a 2001 Deere 260 to use around his property. The machine has 3,000 hours but is in very nice shape. He did a full service on it and noticed that the right chain case was overfull and pressurized. He thought the hydraulic motor was...

Dad snapped a picture of me sub-cutting on a sewer and water project this summer in the 312CL Deere 700H, 700J, and the 143H sitting on a waterway project I completed. Same waterway project. Fueling up the 700J Had to move a sign for CHS in Marshall using one of the 320C's and a...

    Cat classic parts?

I was told by a friend who was a Cat mechanic for 30 years, and now a service manager for the past 10 years, to not use Classic parts internally on something that is going to be moving dirt every day. He said track components and stuff may be fine for everyday use, but they are really oriented...
