    S300 electrical woes

It's been a while and I am still trying to help a friend fix his S300. I can start and run the machine by jumping the relays, but desperately need a schematic to trace the wires to the computer. Is there anyone who has a wiring diagram handy?

    High track crawler loader?

I never saw a forklift on the rear of a track loader. Must be only for carrying, then drop off and load with the front. There are a few celery farms around here, but they just seem to load on wagons pulled by a tractor. I would really like to know the advantages of the high track loader over...

    High track crawler loader?

I just saw a documentary called "Bad Seed - Danger of Genetically Modified Food" and I saw what looked like a 935 c with the high track and pyramid style pads moving a pallet load of some kind of produce. I could not figure out why anyone would need such a machine but it sure looked nice! ALso...

    skid steer controls

That's the tricky part, getting time in the machine. I have only used hand controls once, and they were not electric. Not sure how someone with hand/foot control machines can get time in another type. I have even thought of offering my time in exchange for practice on one of those machines. No...

    Case 450 advice

I just got a 1984 case 450C dozer and am searching for a manual or any info as to what to do maintenance wise, problems, etc.

    Clearing mesquite?

Funny, I have since planted one of the mesquite seedlings in my yard and am surprised what a nice looking, slow growing bush it is. Hopefully I am not making a terrible mistake.

    Operating a skid steer

I have no idea what it is like to operate a skid steer with hand controls. My experience has always been with hand/foot control machines like Bobcat, Mustang, etc. You cannot see the tires very well, and you have to guess what's behind you. The advice above about leveling the bucket is very...

853 Bobcat missing hydraulic control valve

Recently picked up an old 853 for parts. However, after getting the engine running and looking it over I would feel bad to strip it. The only thing missing is the hydraulic control valve assembly. The previous owner had the mechanic work on it, but the mechanic quit and the Bobcat sat around...

    OLDER machines?

Avoid the Bobcat $tealer whenever possible. You can pick up a BRAND NEW fan gearbox from Burden's surplus center. Less than 100 bucks and the genuine part. If you do not feel air blowing out the side of the machine when running it is the fan gearbox. The BICS is the odd Bobcat safety system that...

    Mel-Trac T660

Sure is a lot of wishful thinking on the prices of those relics!

    Now THESE are treehuggers....

What surprises me is that environuts have not started getting rifles and sniping equipment operators. Around here almost all privately owned land has been destroyed so it is not an issue.

Why do most people preferred other brands than China made equipment?

My complaint about Chinese products is related to wages and middlemen. The Chinese workers are paid far too little, and the middlemen take far too much. If I can avoid it I buy first world parts. If first world is too expensive I will buy Chinese, but only from the contacts I use who do not...

old cat saftey vidio that you have to watch

I downloaded this from the internet archive a few years back and admittedly got a few laughs out of it. A lot more serious than the "bobcat bootcamp" and sure makes some good points. People forget how easily a crawler can coast downhill when the final drive is removed.

    Mel-Trac T660

This thing is amazing. Wonder why it never caught on? Too expensive maybe? As a 6 wheel atv enthusiast for several decades the idea of a 6 wheel skid steer always seemed probable. Guess today's rubber track loaders took its place. There was also a modified Bobcat with 6 wheels. Seems to be a...

Bobcat 863 timing belt (deutz bf4m1011 timing)

A smart business owner knows when it is time to write off a machine and let it go. My 863 also came from a business who sold it cheap because it had too many problems. The best place for a machine like that to go is in the hands of a handy homeowner. Once you fix it expect more problems. Some...

    Cat 953 won't start

I have dealt with this once before. A genius got his dozer stuck in a mud hole and water got up to the starter relay and the starter. Electrolysis corroded the relay contacts and rust froze up the solenoid and carbon brushes in the starter. We replaced the relay and I fixed the starter. The...

My 763 was used hard. Now it needs some help

I am far too cheap to buy fancy coatings, most likely I will use industrial enamel over a homemade primer. The hydraulic components I prefer to zinc plate. When sandblasting it is so hot here that I cannot bear to wear the protective gear. Deep pits caused by rust I either braze or weld to...

Bobcat 863 timing belt (deutz bf4m1011 timing)

The magirus belt I used was a Dayco 091 RHDN 254 H part number 94525. The kit of belt and idler was around 70.00 a price I could live with. It is absolutely best to install the belt with the engine out of the Bobcat. As for the tensioner I admit to not using the real tool but doing it "by feel"...

My 763 was used hard. Now it needs some help

I am going to restore my old 843 as well. However, sandblasting is just too much work and cannot stop rust. My plan is to disassemble, use electrolysis, pressure clean and treat with phosphoric acid. My 763 still looks good but eventually I want to restore it too.
