    Winter hydraulic oil

In our area (northern Alberta) most construction equipment either have block heaters that cana be plugged in to electricity, or a diesel fired heater which warms the engine up before the operator arrives. The majority also circulate the warmed coolant through the hydraulic tank also. Many...

    Winter hydraulic oil

I have a Bobcat A300. It is my third Bobcat. I use Bobcat's own hydraulic oil and have had no problems. It is important to warm the hydraulics up before giving the machine a load to handle. Other machines we have use synthetic hydraulic oil, and our John Deere crawlers use 0-40 year around...

    Winter starting

Block heaters or circulating heaters both work well if you are near a power outlet. We often work on remote sites and have had an Espar heater installed. It burns a little bit of diesel to heat the engine. Pro heat also makes the same type of thing. The advantage is that you don't need to be...

    Synthetic eng oil ??

Our John Deere crawlers us 0-40 for their hydraulics from the factory. They seem to work just fine. We also use synthetic hydraulic oil in the Tyalta mulchers which run 630 hpcirculating 200 gpm at 5000 psi. We do have diesel fired heaters (Espar) for the hydraulic oil and to warm the engines...

How to dig a ditch fast?

One of the best operators I have known used to train people by letting them dig about 100 feet, then he gave them a shovel to clean up the ditch. The most important thing is not how fast you are, but that you make good ditch. There are times when the ditch doesn't matter, but it does't take...

Just curious about Timber Ax/Carbide Cutters, ect..

Bobcat has a unit ready for mulchers. It is complete and ready to go without add ons. My experience with Bobcat is that they won't sell it until it works right.

    Will tracks(OTT) solve this problem?

OTT tracks need a couple inches of slack. I have used them is muskeg and find the floatation is excellent. You can purchase pads to bolt into the spaces, but i don't find it necessary. If your bucket is empty, you will have better luck backing up a hill. If the bucket is full, then drive...

    Synthetic eng oil ??

I live in Northern Alberta, Canada. We use 0-40 oil year around. It makes for easier starting and quick flow of oil in the cold temps. Some people like to change to heavier oil in summer, but I don't. The internal temps of the engine run pretty similar all the time. I have had excellent...

Brand and Model of Skid Steer

I have run a few different makes, and the clear winner is Bobcat. I have also used steel tracks over rubber and think that is an excellent option. My experience with Bobcat has been that they stand behind it 100% and they are the smoothest to operate.
