    I have seen it done before because of a steep backend. Logs drift downhill when pulling with carriage and it seem to help keep dropline from burning on bottom or side of carriage

    There's no boom or cab on shovel and looking at all lines of yarder my guess is that old skidder let them down while assisting putting it back together or taking it apart
