Crane fire in Sydney this morning.

The vast majority in Australia, specifically Victoria are diesel. Elec are really only used in congested residential areas.

Crane fire in Sydney this morning.

The crane lifts its own fuel up in a tank. Lift the tank above the engine and let the hose dangle down. Walk out onto the walkway and grab the hose and let gravity do its thing.

    lucky escape

The only way it could have possible happened is if the hook two blocked. And you would then have to ignore the really awful noises coming from the crane to get to that point. edit The more I think about it the more I cant understand how it's possible.

    hard hat yes or no

I'm not a fan of them in general, but I do accept they have their place. In controlled work environments where risks can be assessed and acted upon then they are an unnecessary. However I do have new found respect after one particular concrete panel installation job. From memory the panels were...

    Safe or NOT

And if any part of the pulling setup was to break than the manlift could blow the drive seals and free wheel down the hill. Some tires on the dozer blade and pushing is fine with me.

    Liebherr crane

Those outriggers look like a pain. I've hired a lot of cranes over the years installing precast and on many occasions the job has only been done because of telescoping outriggers. Slewing outriggers would be a major problem. Im presuming there are major cost benefits by using a standard truck...

    What makes the best operator/worker?

Amazes me but also doesn't surprise me. I look after a precast concrete yard and amongst hand tools, I have to look after 9 gantry cranes, two trucks, a forklift, scissor lift, company vehicles and a mobile RT crane. I can stand outside the door of my office and just by listening I can tell a...

    What makes the best operator/worker?

The best operator is the one that has to repair the machine when things go wrong.

new engine no power in hitachi 300

I was going to suggest something similar. My Volvo N10 has a cable twist lock to isolate fuel to the pump. One time I didnt push the cable all the way in before locking it off (cable for fuel pump and throttle as well as air operated gates and what not are located behind me to the left, as such...

    Grove TMS 250A Boom Removal

I would imagine the oil would take the path of least resistance. But hell, when your desperate you try anything. 2yrs ago I had to remove the main boom ramas it was leaking on my 15t P&H Omega RT. The 5" (approx) pin would not budge, even after hooking up a hydraullic strand jack. In the end I...

Any excavator injuries or accidents falling from a machine

I'll have to try and find the photo, but there is one of me working less than 2feet off the ground in a knuckle lift with the full safety gear on. Thats what happens when they have a blanket no ladder rule on site.

    Concrete Recycling Plants Needs

You actually charge people to dump their concrete for recycling? I have only just recently bought a 10cm2 dump truck to deliver my own excess concrete to a recycling plant that is local to me. The truck paid for itself in under 6 months. I have personally dumped over 800t in well under a year...

    Travel motor replacement

Dont get me started. My final drive quote was for 50% of the original purchase price. I fully appreciate the costings of running a business but i cannot see how they can justify the cost of this item. I can only think they are asking a premium because they know buyers will be in a desperate...
