Some pic's for road transport fan's

All I see a bunch of photobucket links that don't let me see anything. Is there some way you can make the pictures visible, or want to provide the secret decoder ring password?

580 CK looses reverse only but recovers over night

Sometimes it's pretty hard to get them full. Bring it all up to temp. Raise the bucket and block it. Run through the F/R a bunch of times. Keep checking and adding a pint at a time.

    Pricing used tools

Right now I am shopping for a shop and a field set of tools. I'm looking for a big roll around a good top box and most of what I'll need for an equipment mechanic position. I already own a half dozen Craftsman, Proto, Kenedy light duty type top boxes on roll around boxes stuffed with all sorts...

surge or electric for skid steer trailer?

Pull forward extending the actuator. Mark it. Back up a hill. Trailer should refuse to back up hill. Or at least try to refuse. Note actuator travel. If it traveled it full amount the system may be out of adjustment. Or in need of service. There are a number of variables, like disc brakes...

I think that's just a putty like substance. As I recall we just filled the tank V'd em out and welded em up.

What's up with Terex backhoe Loader pricing?

I've been shopping around for a backhoe/loader. Most of my time and experience has been around later model Case units but Cats and Deere's always seemed to be in the same class. I've been watching for 580SuperM's and the like as a machine I'd like to get. Recently I've noticed a couple...

Air pollution issues,Diesels and the state.

I had the old Sa200 in the shop running some big rod reconstructing an attachment apparatus. It ran a little rich as always. I looked over on the shelf and saw a 4" cat(alytic converter) leftover from a indoors job. I jammed it over the small weather cap on the welder and tacked it down with a...

    Understanding hydraulics and cylinder drift

But according to all the pictures and diagrams one would be LED TO BELIEVE that it would not fall because of inability to make up the total internal volume differential. Yea I'm either a wise arss or just don't understand. Oh, and what about the overpressure relief's built in to some of the...

How many paramedics should be on hand to change a lightbulb?

Keep your nose clean and your mouth shut. If the foreman tells you to take the new guy around back and fix it, do it.

Air pollution issues,Diesels and the state.

It is illegal in California to sell used catalytic converters. Except for scrap. They are not to be purchased for use used! So the poor stiff that bought his hotrod POS trucks would if not supplied with the parts removed at the time of sale need to source new. He had a pile of all the...

Air pollution issues,Diesels and the state.

I left California last may. Now in Vermont. Before I left I was at a smallish local contractors yard sale (he was selling out) and in a pile he had for sale all the nearly brand shiny new catalytic converters and associated emissions components he had just recently removed from his fleet of...

Looking for a clamp bucket for a 580E

Most of those 4 in one buckets had the lower edge of the moving section wearing away and splitting wide open. I've taken many to the task of removing the worn edge and fitting a cutting edge. So if you find one, make sure you open it up and look at the edges.
