Two workers in the basket, one died the other survived. both were reported to be attached to the lift platforms anchorage point. The picture on page 4-7 of the operator's manual appears to be the position the lift was in when it went over, except they did not have the boom 90 degrees to...

BTW, forks are stamped with a capacity. The combination of the two forks has to be equal to or greater than the maximum capacity of the forklift. Example: JLG installs a 10,000 lb. fork carriage with two 5,000 lb. x 24" (load center) forks on all their 6,000 lb. to 10,000 lb. reach forklifts.

5' forks, 6' forks doesn't matter still a 24" load center. Moving the load center out 12" can mean a loss of up to 2000 lbs. of capacity.

The one thing that troubles me on these machines is if the machine is off and a cylinder leaks down (internally) there is no warning alarm. The machine has to be running to get the...

Quote: Tried to call OSHA today but they were all gone a 3:30 pm When I called JLG to buy one a few months ago they had now and it was a 4 week wait to get one Calling OSHA will only confuse you more. I wouldn't even bother. They typically do not know. JLG is all but shut down, making...

JLG man basket JLG makes a man basket with the additional load chart and operating manual (which must be with the forklift when being used) to make money. The instruction manual states what OSHA says, no one can be in the man basket when the forklift is being moved. Which if followed makes...

48 x 48 x 48 load I agree it is pretty obsurd to me too. I'm just the messenger. The key is centering the load on the forks to balance it. Can't balance a man basket/platform with workers moving around. The really obsurd thing is the 24" load center out from the back of the forks. How...

Additionally Just to expound on the previous post, I just left the American Rental Assoc. show in Orlando and spoke with JLG (makers of Lull, Skytrk, JLG, Gradall and Catepillar telehandlers) and Genie (makers of Terex, Square Shooter and Genie telehandlers) and asked each one if they would...

Simple answer OSHA requires that any attachment has to be identified on the ID plate or load chart. Therefore any attachment has to be approved by the manufacturer of the forklift and the manufacturers will only approve attachments that they make and will not authorize third party attachments...
